Our Story

Thank you all for your support of Haley and my marriage. We are both so thankful for the love and support of our amazing parents Kurt and Helene Myers and Bob and Kerry Cassidy. Haley and I's story is unique and has thrived through home runs, strikeouts, slumps, and a small pandemic.

Haley and I started our journey together at the University of Hartford where baseball and softball brought us together. As all good relationships started I saw Haley and instantly had a crush on her and naturally she had no idea who I was. However, we would eventually have a conversation where I would be lucky enough to introduce myself to Haley.

A year after meeting each other I would finally work up the courage to ask her on a date to the Cheesecake Factory. We both owe that first date to Bridesmade Paige Fedak who convinced Haley to go only because she wanted us to bring home Oreo cheesecake for her. Thankfully, this date would lead us to several more in the coming weeks and I would eventually ask Haley to be my girlfriend. We enjoyed some of our favorite days together during the 2019-2020 year living 2 apartments away from each other and cheering each other on at games. The highlight of that time together for me was getting to spend our Friday nights together at Scotts Sports in Windsor where I would pitch to Haley in the batting cage to prepare here for her weekend series. Thank you to Haley’s Father Bob Cassidy for funding our Friday night dates.

Unfortunately, this year would also be our most challenging as Covid forced us to move our relationship to long distance. This time was full of late nights facetiming each other until we would be able to visit each other over the summer. Thankfully, Covid would fade and we were able to resume seeing each other daily. We then would spend the next year watching each other have senior day and watch each other graduate college.

Fast-forwarding to post-college I was lucky enough to convince Haley to move officially to the greatest state in the entire country and that is Connecticut. We got our first apartment together right next to the hospital in Bristol where Haley, Dodger, and I shared an 800-square-foot apartment together. As everyone can imagine that was our most challenging time both starting our careers and living with a puppy 45 minutes from my parents. This time was the motivation for us to start house hunting.

Thankfully we were able to find a home 2 minutes from my favorite place in the world Hopmeadow Country Club and 5 minutes from Haley’s favorite place Resolute Crossfit. Additionally, we are both so happy that we are 7 minutes away from my parents to have them by for support and to play with Dodger.

Outside of watching each other play sports, we shared another love and that is dogs. Haley loves dogs so much that she even surprised me with one right before we moved into our first tiny apartment together. We both credit our dog Dodger as our main therapist as well as inspiration for buying our first home with a backyard. We now live happily in a fenced-in backyard for our two dogs Dodger and Whiskey.

As Haley and I have grown together we have developed other favorite activities such as traveling. We are some of the proudest users of the $49 Frontier airline nonstop from Hartford to Puerto Rico. We have been lucky enough to go to Iceland together to see the Northern lights and are so happy to announce that our Honeymoon will be to Turkey, Greece, France, and Ireland.

We are both so thankful for each other and beyond excited to see everyone at our big day!

To Haley, I am so excited about our lives together!

Love,

Pete and Haley
