Our Story

If you're reading this, you're probably looking for a long, sappy post about our love story. And if you know us, you know that's not really our style. But we still want to share a little about our story, how we met, how we got engaged and what we love to do together. As any modern love story goes, we met by swiping right on each other on a dating app. A first date led to 3 weeks of frequently hanging out. He popped (the girlfriend) question on January 26, 2019. From there, we grew to love going to Stars games together, eating Mexican food (and now we're catering it at our wedding), watching horror movies, traveling to Colorado (spoiler alert: we got engaged there...more on that later), and we even introduced each other to some new things. Let's just say Haley is now an avid chess player and Matt is a frenchie lover. Shoutout to our frenchie baby, Murphy! Ok, let's backtrack to pre-Murphy times real quick though. During the 4 years of our relationship, we spent 2 years long distance while Matt was getting his MBA at Wharton in Philadelphia. Haley stayed in Dallas, but our relationship never wavered. We visited each other, spent the summer in between the 2 years of school together and spent lots of time talking on the phone. We finally moved in together after graduation and found ourselves in Austin, TX. We've lived here since May 2022 and are proud parents of that frenchie baby we mentioned earlier. So how did we get here? We'll let Matt tell that story... I had it all planned out perfectly. I had the ring. The Colorado trip was booked. I scheduled the photographer. Haley's quite the planner so making sure there was a moment in the itinerary (yes, she makes an actual minute-by-minute itinerary for all our trips) where I could slyly fit in a proposal was quite the feat. But it was all lining up perfectly, and I couldn't be more ready to get this thing done. February 4, 2023. Today is the day. We woke up and guess what? Haley woke up with food poisoning. No, I'm not kidding. Cue a day of stress, figuring out a plan B, going back to plan A, trying to be comforting without begging her to just get over it, texting the photographer we'll be a little late, wiping away Haley's tears, and forcing her to go on that really pretty hike we had planned. Vomit bag and toilet paper in tow—we were OFF! No accidents along the way and, midway through the hike, I finally popped (the big) question. She said YES! So, that's us. Moral of the story is that we love each other, we can't wait to spend our lives together and we're ready to celebrate with our favorite people!

Haley and I met in college and were instant besties. We’ve been through every moment, good and bad, together for the past 7 years. There’s too many good memories to count, but what sticks out most are all the regular days we spent in college chatting on each other’s beds, picking each other up from class, going to the mall to shop for new “going out” clothes, making dinner together, and all the other everyday things that felt incomplete when we weren’t together. I love how Hales will always listen to me (even when it gets old) and never judge me (even when she probably should). She’s the best friend a girl could ask for. It’s truly an honor to stand by Haley’s side and be her MOH on the best day of her life. I couldn’t be happier to see my best friend with someone who makes her so happy. Cheers to Haley and Matt!

Katie Burkhart

Matt and I first met in a group tennis lesson and immediately bonded over our lack of love for the sport that would inevitably take up the majority of our time in high school. The unfortunate reality is we both had a strong competitive drive, but weren’t athletic enough to compete in other sports. So tennis it was.

Although I joke, tennis is what bonded us the most. It gave us the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. We grew the closest during our last 2 years of high school where we would play tennis during the day, then video games at my house in the evening.

Matt has always been one of my closest friends and is the most genuine person you can meet. Some of my best memories are of Matt and I just goofing around on the tennis courts, with our headphones in and eating gummy bears. 

Conner Callaway

Haley and I have known each other since the 6th grade. She has been one of my most dependable, uplifting friends I’ve had. She has always been such a positive person in my life and I cannot wait to stand by her on her day! 

One of my favorite memories with her is when we spent the entire summer at the end of our sophomore year together at Arkansas. We had to take a chemistry class, which was rough, but we were able to spend everyday together! In the middle of it, we got invited to go to Little Rock for a music festival. We were almost 21 years old but not quite. We had a beer in our hand (you can see where this is going) and Haley had a little talking to by a cop. Somehow I managed to not be stopped, but I guess Haley had bad luck that day. Without too much more detail, we had to make another trip to Little Rock to pay a fine. It was extremely intimidating because we weren’t in trouble often, but now we look back and laugh about all the things we did when we were younger. 

Haley, I’m so honored to be apart of you and Matt’s special day. I’m so glad I’ve gotten to know Matt over the years. He is such a witty and intelligent person and he compliments you so well. I can’t wait to watch you both walk down the aisle. I love you so much! Now let’s get you married!!

Baylee England

Mathias and I met playing America's fastest growing sport, pickleball...I mean tennis. We first met playing tennis drills and although his forehand was just okay, his friendship was fantastic. A group of us quickly became great friends and continued to be mediocre at tennis but make the best memories along the way on trips, playing video games at Conner's house and general shenanigans. Although Matt and I had our differences (UT vs A&M) we continued to stay in touch and keep up with one anothers journeys. I had the privilege of getting to meet Haley with Matt a few times and I know there is no better match to keep him in line. I am honored to be a part of the big day and can not congratulate the couple enough! 

Erik Linde

I met Haley on the first day of 5th grade at Lakewood Elementary and she’s been stuck with me ever since! Haley and I have shared so many memories together over the years, but I think one of my favorites is when we went and saw Drake for Haley’s 16th birthday! Haley has always been the kind of friend who’s always there for you and makes you feel so comfortable. She’s always down to go with the flow and NEVER fails to be my biggest hype man! I’m so thankful to have been with her through so many stages of life and I can’t wait to watch her marry Matt and become a Kibikas!!

Allison Delaneuville

While Matt and I met during our freshman year at UT, we really didn’t start hanging out till our sophomore year when we started to spend an unconscionable amount of time together. We would go on to spend our entire summer together in Austin, playing soccer in 100+ degree heat, watching Team USA during the World Cup and playing a crazy amount of video games. And then finally during our senior year, we lived together, which truly solidified our friendship, with lots late night Dominos (thin crust!) and a constant supply of Dos Equis. Our apartment could best be described as a constant battle zone with lots of roasting, (somewhat) competitive Madden games, watching insane amounts of basketball and occasionally doing the bare minimum to pass our classes. We also spent many a night staying up late and chatting about life’s many mysteries or whatever topic came to mind. While Matt and I have lived in separate cities since graduating, nothing in this world would stop me from being there for his big day. He has been, since those many late nights studying Accounting 301H, one of my closest friends and I can’t truly explain in words how happy I am for him and Haley as they embark on this  journey. Thank you for being such a great friend and I wish you both all the best. I am honored to be part of your big day!

Mohnish Gandhi

I think I stand for most, when I say there are few people in life you would choose to live AND work with, but fortunately, I have had the pleasure of getting to do both with Haley and loved every minute of it! While all of it was fun, I especially enjoyed carpooling to work and discussing whatever was on our minds. Haley is an incredible listener and a very genuine human being. I love that she laughs easy and is always down for an adventure. I couldn't be more excited for her to tie the knot with her best friend, Matt! Love you, Hales!

Lauren Lammers

As a freshman in college, I immediately gravitated towards Kibby. He has always been hardworking, responsible and super successful. While I look up to him, it is not the reason I am friends with him. Matt and I share the same sense of humor, which is warped in layers of pop culture, sports references and fantasy football. I love the NFL season because it means I get to have weekly calls with Matt, where we lowball each other on trade offers, trash talk every other member of the league, and sprinkle in updates on our personal lives. It is what truly connects us. From sharing highs & lows to  Thanksgiving dinners, thank you for being an amazing friend. I wish you and Haley all the love & happiness in the world, and can’t wait to celebrate yall’s big day!

There are also plenty of Airbnb and VRBO options in the area. Shuttle details are also outlined below. Most people will get in on Saturday or Sunday, but if you're in town on Friday, we're planning to go out in downtown Austin to kick off the weekend festivities! The shuttle will pick up from Hyatt Place Austin/Round Rock at 4:45 PM to take guests to the venue for the reception. If you're attending our intimate ceremony, please make travel arrangements to get to the venue. There's a small parking lot at the venue where vendors will be parked, so we recommend carpooling or using a ride share service. The shuttle will pick up guests from the venue at 2 different times at the end of the night to go back to Hyatt Place Austin/Round Rock:9:30 PM10:15 PM
