For our guests arriving from out-of-state, we are so happy to have you here to celebrate our big day! Please be mindful of the following as you plan your trip to Hawaii:
-You will need to get a state-approved COVID-19 test within 72 hours of your flight's departure time (and test negative) in order to skip the state's mandatory 10-day quarantine (most of the airlines have partnered with specific organizations that are considered "trusted partners" and will be accepted)
-Create an account on Safe Travels Hawaii (https://travel.hawaii.gov/#/), upload your flight information, your negative COVID-19 test, and fill out a questionnaire and you should be free to pass through airport security (and quarantine) when you arrive to Hawaii as long as you show your QR code
-Masks are required to be worn in all public and private spaces in the state of Hawaii and they will be required at our wedding ceremony and reception.
-The more people we have vaccinated at our wedding, the safer the event will be! We know most guests have been vaccinated, but if you are planning to get the vaccine and have the opportunity to do so, it will make it that much safer for all of us!
UPDATE 4/15/2021
Mahalo (thank you) to everyone for being patient with us as we change our wedding plans for the third (and hopefully last time).
With the City & County of Honolulu recently allowing for weddings to occur with a limited number of people, we have decided to have our wedding at the original venue, Kualoa Ranch! Due to the restrictions still in place and to optimize everyone's safety, we will still be having a very intimate wedding celebration. Because of the constraints of the venue, we are unsure if we will be able to stream the ceremony for you to virtually be present. We are currently looking into this so please check back for more updates!
UPDATE 3/1/2021
Although we thought back in 2020 that the pandemic wouldn't affect our wedding, it has become apparent that our wedding day is going to look a lot different from what we had imagined and planned for.
Hawai'i has been doing relatively well compared to other states in regard to COVID-19 case counts due to the strict guidelines set in place by the state government. Currently, there is a tier system in place that restricts the amount of people that can gather based on the number of new cases per week in the state. The most liberal tier at this time only allows for 25 people to gather and our state has not been even close to reaching this level. See the State of Hawai'i Reopening Strategy website for more information: https://www.oneoahu.org/reopening-strategy.
With that being said, we have decided to keep our wedding date for a couple reasons:
1) 2.5 years of engagement is already way too long to be postponing even if it is just until the end of 2021
2) We are committed to getting married in Hawai'i and will likely be moving in June 2021 to the mainland
3) We want to keep 5/21/21 so Max doesn't have an excuse to forget any anniversaries
We will be having a very small ceremony and reception at Max's parents house instead of at Kualoa Ranch. We are hoping to broadcast the ceremony via Zoom and hope you can all attend and still be a part of our day! Please check in later for more details as the date gets closer.
We would love to have everyone that we originally invited to attend our big day (in person), however out of concern for everyone's safety and in order to comply with state laws, we are rolling with the waves and changing plans.
Stay safe everyone.
Aloha,
Haley and Max
