Things to Do

The Margate is located in the Lake Region of NH, although it will be right before the tourism season really kicks off there are still lots of fun and eclectic activities around! Should you want to spend a little extra time exploring the area there is certainly plenty to do for everyone!

Beaches

Weather permitting, there are a bunch of beaches in and around Laconia. Not only is the Margate located directly on the beach and available for use by guests, there is also Weirs Beach and Bartlett Beach to name a few. Please be aware most beaches will most likely still be in the off season and may not have rest rooms available for use.

Boardwalks

If swimming isn't for you, but you would still like to get a taste of what Lake Winnipesaukee has to offer, head on down to Weirs beach Boardwalk and Winnipesaukee Pier! Here you will find a penny arcade, benches and tables to enjoy the view, ice cream shops, the scenic railroad, and more!

You can also find boat and pontoon rentals, wakeboarding and wake surfing lessons, as well as rent paddle boards, and kayaks. They even have BYOB Tiki hut cruises on the Lake! For a more mellow time on the lake, you can also book a scenic cruise on the M/S Mount Washington! Bookings and rentals may be seasonal or weather permitting, information on rentals and more activities at the pier can be found here: https://www.winnipesaukeepier.com/

Hiking/Site seeing

For those of you who like site seeing and hiking, you're in luck! NH is home to some of the most beautiful sights and some pretty cool trails. Weather permitting you could check out Ahern State Park, Swain State Forest, or even the Endicott Rock State Historical Site. Alltrails is also a great resource for various hiking and walking trails as well as some scenic routes in the area!

For your competitive side

For those of you like Nick and I who happen to have a competitive side, arcades, bumper cars, and mini golf may be right up your alley! A tried and true for many on both sides of the family, Pirate's Cove mini golf has a location in Meredith NH that is open mid May- mid October. Only a quarter mile away is Fun Spot, the worlds largest arcade with some of the oldest games Nick and I have seen in quite some time. This was a rainy day favorite during family trips on Lake Winnipesaukee! It may not be the fanciest of arcades but it will certainly transport you back in time and has quite a bit to offer!

Restaurants

If you are planning on spending some time in Laconia before or after the wedding and are looking for a bite to eat, there are lots of great choices to check out! Check out the Local Eatery if you are looking for a bit of an upscale evening, or the Tavern 27 martini and tapas bar both located in Laconia NH and ranks among the top 10 restaurants in the area!

If you're looking for a more casual night, there is also T-Bones Great American Eatery, or the Union Diner, both also located in Laconia!

If you're looking for a sit down breakfast at any point over the weekend, the Union Diner also serves breakfast! Or you could check out the Water Street Cafe, or Cafe Dejavu too!!
