Ben and Haley met their senior year of high school on Christmas Eve. Haley was working as a lifeguard when Ben approached her and asked for her snapchat (even though he did not use it at the time). Haley decided "what the heck" and gave it to him, despite his friends watching over Ben's shoulder. Haley then proceeded to ignore him (Ben's words, not Haley's) until New Years Eve, when Ben texted Haley along the lines of "it seems you aren't interested, have a good life," for which Haley responded along the lines of "I suck at texting, I promise I am interested." From then they went on their first date and the rest is history.

They went to each other's school dances and graduated from their respective high schools before heading to college in different states and timezones. Countless 4+ hour car rides, flights, Facetime calls, and 3 degrees later, Haley and Ben were finally no longer long distance after 5 years.

Haley had asked Ben not to propose while she was in Physician Assistant school, but with an upcoming trip to Hawaii planned for after graduation, Haley asked Ben if he were planning a proposal, to which he said "heck no!".

With no thoughts of a proposal ahead, Haley enjoyed the family trip to Hawaii with Ben and her family. Towards the end of the trip, they all headed to family photos, while Haley proceeded to chase chickens on the beach. After being scolded by her mother, Haley realized that this was not just family photos and was surprised with a proposal, to which she said "yes" before Ben was even done asking.

Now, Haley and Ben are dog parents to their puppy Pepper Kate and have been enjoying being engaged and no longer long distance. They look forward to celebrating their love in June 2026!
