The Blue Ridge Mountains are beautiful this time of year! There are tons of hikes nearby, here are a few we'd recommend:
Craggy Gardens (and Craggy Pinnacle!)
Black Balsam Knob
Lane Pinnacle
Mt Mitchell
Looking Glass Falls
If you're looking for a less strenuous nature walk in town, try out Beaver Lake!
*** Damage from Hurricane Helene has left a lot of roads and trails inaccessible so definitely try to check out AllTrails and do some research before going, we're happy to help!
If hiking isn't really your thing, you can still enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains via a scenic drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Stop at some lookouts and take in the views!
Downtown AVL is super walkable and has tons of good shops to visit! Go and explore but if you want some landmarks then check out Malaprops Bookshop, French Broad Chocolate, Kress Emporium, Minx Boutique, East Fork Pottery, or Spicewalla!
The former Vanderbilt home and largest private residence in the USA is just outside of town! Take a tour of the house and walk the grounds, you'll no doubt be impressed.
Asheville has a gnarly brewery scene! Here are a few of our favorites:
Wicked Weed Funkatorium (amazing for a sour!)
Wedge Brewing Company
Hi-Wire
Catawba
Green Man
*** Also consider donating to some of our other favorites that were catastrophically damaged by Hurricane Helene: Zillicoah, Cursus Keme, and New Belgium.
