I met Haley right around the end of high school, I thought she was stunning. It was unfortunately the wrong time and place, and we went about our lives. I thought I would never see her again.

10 years later, my friends finally convinced me to try Bumble, the dating app. After a day or so I got a message, it was her! She sent a message asking how I was and I immediately asked her out.

Our first date was very high class. It was some good nachos and some bad egg rolls at a neighborhood bar that hasn’t been updated in many years. She showed up and I felt my heart beat much faster. The date went well and she even agreed to a second date!

From there it was a spring and summer full of our “weekend dates”. One day would be a museum or a farmers market or the aquarium and the other would be a day to just hangout and walk Sloans lake, have a beer, and TRY to cook her a pizza.

We thought this could be something pretty special, so we decided to try our first trip together. It was nearby, just a drive to Breck for a weekend. But it ended up being very special! From amazing pasta in an empty restaurant to some awful drinks at the absinthe bar, we were starting to figure it out. We then spent the next few months going to Avalanche games, concerts, and fly fishing around town. The time of our lives!

Then I had a very unfortunate summer, I lost my little brother. Haley had been with me in the best of times and now it was the worst, before we even hit six months! She stuck by me though, and helped me out of the darkness we all were experiencing. I knew I had to marry her.

A week later we were leaving for what was supposed to be a family vacation to Hawaii, now it was just me and her and my younger brother and his girlfriend. I decided that then and there it was time. I had been carrying around a ring that my dad had once given my mom in my pocket and waiting. I was able to get her dad on the phone and confirm he was ok with me marrying his daughter. After the most nervous phone call of my life, we were off to dinner. I got to propose to the love of my life at the Beach House in Kauai, it was perfect.

Luckily, she said yes and that’s what we are celebrating now! I can’t wait to get old together.
