Our Wedding

Blake and I met on January 21st of 2023, at one of his friend’s houses. I remember getting there and seeing him running around like a chicken with his head cut off looking for a charger. I kinda just ignored it, went in the barn and started talking to all of us friends. If you know me you know I have always been on the shy side, so it took me awhile to open up. Eventually I became “chatty kathy.” I was kinda surprised we had hit it off so well, and before I knew it, it was 5am driving around in his truck talking and listening to music. I remember feeling nervous but yet so comfortable with him, feeling like I had known him for forever. I went home and told my mom the next day, I was nervous about it all. The following weekend was my birthday, Kenzy and I drove out to piedmont again to hangout with Blake and his friends. I hadn’t told anyone it was my birthday, but Ahna being ahna figured it out. Let’s just say we all had a little too much fun that night, and according to myself it was everyone’s birthday that night. At the time I don’t think either of us were really looking for a relationship, but we soon started hanging out every weekend. He would drive over an hour to see me. We had a few small talks about it, but I was pretty set in my decision. I had talked to my mom about all of my hesitations; her saying well there’s a reason you ended up going that night, looking back now i’m sure glad i did. The first few times he started coming around my family I was not at all surprised that everyone got along so well. Over the next few weeks we started seeing each other every chance we got, he had probably asked me 10-15 times in between those days to be his girlfriend before I had actually said yes February 19th ‘23. After starting to become comfortable around each other’s family, we would switch off driving to see each other. He would drive up here every weekend from Okeene and we’d switch off on my days off. I didn’t realize for so long how much time and effort he put into us in the beginning getting to edmond at 7pm on weeknight and waking up at 3am to go to work the next morning just to see me for a few hours. We always joke, that when he took me to see George Strait in Nashville that year that I knew he was the one. At some point we both started talking and becoming tired of driving so much and only seeing each other for short amounts of time. We started looking and talking to family and friends and found a 3 bedroom 2 bath rental house in Kingfisher. We moved in together December 15, 2023. That Christmas I made the decision to buy him his first dog, his dream dog a chocolate lab puppy. Although I wanted it to be a surprise Blake being his nosy self pretty much figured it out. After days of trying to name him we ended up with Tex. Since we had started living together we started thinking about our future plans, marriage, rings, careers. At the beginning of 2024 we started planning a little trip to South Padre Island. I had been pestering and bugging him asking him if he was going to propose then, especially when he said he was going to my parents one day after work to get his shorts, not a great excuse if you ask me. This being a week before our trip, he had convinced me that he was not proposing so I let it go. I told him in the end I was glad it wasn’t happening in Padre because I wanted my parents and brother there. A week before our trip, my dad called and told me that they couldn’t watch the dogs or take care of my horse while we were gone. I didn’t think anything of it; all I thought was what the heck this is a week before our trip we might have to cancel. In the end Blake found a way for us to go and our animals being taken care of, so we headed down to Padre, Tim, Gage, Blake and I.  When we got there we spent a lot of our time at the beach, going to shops, we went dolphin watching and watched the fire works on the ocean. The night before we went dolphin watching, I had went to check on our friend’s location to see if she was feeding my horse yet, and I had saw that my parents were in Texas. I couldn’t keep it to myself, and I asked Blake about it. He smiled and I knew immediately what they were coming down for. I felt so bad because I could tell he was upset, but I was so happy. The next day, on the 5th of July we went to take “family pictures.” We were walking along the beach and Blake pulled me aside and there was a beautiful sand castle that had flowers all over it, my name in a heart, with the words “will you spend the rest of your life with me.” With no doubt it my mind, I said yes. I remember my favorite part about that moment was just him and I together on the beach, and the song Marry You by Bruno Mars. It was a moment I will never forget. I looked up and I saw my parents and my brother walking down from the pier, and i’m so thankful for all of the time and effort Blake put into it all to make it so special even though everything didn’t go as planned. That night we celebrated with dinner, drinks and more fireworks. We immediately started wedding planning when we got back home, still on cloud 9 from it all. We set our date for September 20th 2025, and we can’t wait to say I do.

There will be an “after party” following the wedding, we plan to hangout at the hotel maybe play some cornhole, and just hangout before everyone goes home!
