Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Our love story is a long one, woven with shared memories and rooted in the heart of our small hometown—Ocala, Florida. We first met at Vanguard High School, where we were both part of the IB magnet program, a tight-knit group of only 80 students. Everyone knew each other, and by the end of our time there, we had earned the title of “frenemies.”

After high school, we went our separate ways—or so we thought. Both of us ended up in the College of Engineering at the University of Florida. We didn’t reconnect until our senior years—Hamza was pursuing his master’s degree and working as a TA, while Melissa was finishing her final semesters as an undergraduate. We reconnected out of necessity, but by the end of that semester, something had shifted. We were no longer frenemies—we had become genuine friends.

After graduation, life pulled us apart again. Melissa moved to West Palm Beach, and Hamza stayed in Gainesville to finish his master’s. Eventually, he graduated and found a job in South Florida too. Being in your mid-20s can feel isolating—friends are scattered across cities and states—so we naturally turned to each other for support and companionship.

That friendship became the foundation for something more. Over time, we realized our bond had grown into a deep, lasting love—one built on partnership, shared history, and aligned values. What started in the hallways of our high school had quietly evolved into a love story years in the making.
