KJ and Hanna both attended Lenoir-Rhyne University, where KJ played soccer and ran track, and Hanna played basketball. During Christmas break of Hanna's freshman year, KJ broke the ice and asked her to dinner. After taking several weeks to give KJ an answer, Hanna accepted the invitation to get food together as "friends." What started as a free meal for me turned into the beginning of our journey together.
KJ and Hanna's relationship shifted to long-distance early in the relationship with KJ's move to DC to pursue work opportunities and Hanna finishing up her undergraduate degree and basketball career at LR. The distance was cut in half when Hanna went home to WVU to pursue her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. These years have consisted of love and sacrifice through thousands of miles traveled, daily Facetime calls, and making the most of their time together.
At times when things were challenging, the Lord demonstrated his incredible divine intervention and grace in their lives. As life continued to generate growth and maturity, Jesus continued to mold both of them into the perfect soulmates for one another. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). KJ and Hanna are beyond grateful God's plans for their future is to be in unity with one another and with Jesus at the center.
