John and Hannah met at Home Team BBQ where they talked until almost closing time. John had to work the next morning and didn't realize he was very late for his 9:30 bedtime, and then thought Hannah didn't like him because she just gave him a side hug at the end of the night.

They've had so much fun traveling all over together, whether it be to dusty Lubbock, Texas for a football game, Asheville to drink plenty of craft beer, or even to Aruba for snorkeling and UTV rides. And let's not forget about the many trips to all parts of Florida, John's home state. (Kinda, he also claims South Carolina. Go Summerville Green Wave?)

John would also be amiss if his (large) Black Lab, Bloo, was not mentioned. After moving in, Hannah and Bloo spent lots of time together at home while waiting for construction on her store to finish, and now listens to Hannah very well...until John comes home. John's #1 request for the wedding is to involve Bloo, so he will be an honorary groomsman.

John proposed in June 2023 at a lowcountry boil they hosted in their backyard amongst many friends. John had lots of things he intended to say before getting down on one knee, but when he tried, his emotions got the best of him and was too choked up to talk. It was very endearing, he finally squeaked out "Will you marry me?", and had plenty of people watching in tears.
