Cody and Hannah met on Hinge. She was both his first and last date using a dating app. Hannah was living in St. Louis for her doctorate studies, and Cody had moved back home after being in the Navy. After Cody moved to Soulard (IYKYK), they became inseparable. After a year of Cardinals games, barhopping, and playing with Cody's dog, Seamus, the two decided to try long distance as Hannah already had plans to move to finish her schooling.

When COVID began in March 2020, Hannah was finishing her externship in Manhattan, and Cody was living in Florida. She booked a one-way ticket to spend lockdown with him.

The couple moved to Charleston in July 2020. Life was easy living 10 minutes from the beach. The next few years were spent starting their careers, rescuing a second dog, Otis, and traveling around the country for weddings of family and friends. They decided it was their turn, and got engaged in August 2023.
