We met as any millennial couple does -- Hinge.

Since Matt was new to Chicago, he asked Hannah to pick the spot. Him being a lawyer, Hannah figured he'd want to be at a fancy, $22/drink cocktail bar; within one drink, they quickly realized that both would be more comfortable at a crappy dive bar. But within that first drink, they also realized this might be something special.

Fortunately for them, that first date was also two months before the world shut down, which allowed them to create a connection but also strengthen it over nightly Zoom calls watching Peaky Blinders and drinking together to cope with whatever the heck 2020 was.

As the world opened up, they got to share more of their world with each other. Hannah got to share her love of travel with trips to St. Lucia, Ireland and Germany, while Matt shared his love of football by indoctrinating Hannah into being a Michigan Football fan (GO BLUE!).

In September 2023, Matt proposed in Dusseldorf on the first night of their vacation. In classic Matt and Hannah style, flight delays and cancelled trains conspired to cancel the plans made for the proposal, forcing him to improvise and propose in the AirBNB. At least he didn't have to do it over Zoom.

We'll see you on June 14 (which is also Flag Day) in Milwaukee to combine two of Matt and Hannah's favorite things -- flags (if you don't know ask Hannah about color guard) and Marquette. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
