Hannah and Taylor met initially on May 12, 2023 at a concert they were both performing in with the Voices of Appalachia. Taylor was singing with the group and Hannah had been invited to come in and play cello for the performance. They spoke briefly at the rehearsal, but I missed connecting further than that.


Months later, Hannahs college friends were visiting Roanoke for the week and decided to download Tinder, on which Taylor popped up right away- yay! They matched in August and went on their first date that week in Blacksburg, VA. Hannah met Taylor at Bollos Cafe for an afternoon tea and pastry before watching his performance in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. They met up after the show, shared a kiss in the parking lot, drove back to Roanoke on their own, hung out the next day, and havent had a day without eachother since.


Taylor and Hannah traveled to Seneca Rocks, WV over Labor Day 2024 for a weekend away. The plan was to hike Seneca Rocks before sunrise to watch the sun crest over the ridge. When they arrived at their cabin, Hannah asked Taylor if he had brought any nighttime hiking supplies, to which he said no. Little did she know, the only thing he was focused on was making sure he had the ring. Hannah then said we shouldnt go if we dont have breakfast or a flashlight. Taylor protested and to his own surprise, discovered granola bars and a flashlight in his work backpack, and the hike was back on.


Around 3:00 am, their alarms went off. They loaded up the minimal supplised they had, got in the car, and headed to the trailhead. They hiked 3 miles in the dark to the top ridge line of Seneca Rocks where they then waited for about an hour for the sun to rise, all while Hannah was free climbing all over the ridgeline, much to Taylors dismay. Once the sun finally came over the ridge line, Taylor found his footing, took a knee, and asked the most important question of his life. Of course, Hannah said yes. They embraced and then suddenly had some company on the ridge. Through tears, Hannah expressed to the random woman on her morning hike we just got engaged! and she did not really seem to care. But thats okay! They were so happy!

Hannah and Taylor are so excited to share their love with one another with all of their family and friends in June and thank everyone for their love and support
