For a few weeks Alex had been suggesting going on a run at Saint Edwards State Park. One morning, we went on a run down to a private beach in the park. Alex suggested we stop and take a break by the water. He started looking behind a log and grabbed three boxes. At this point, I still had no idea what was happening, so he suggested I open the boxes. They were filled with mementos from our time dating, notes I had written Alex throughout our relationship, bananagrams tiles, chocolate (of course), and notes from Alex about why he wanted to spend our lives together. The bananagrams tiles spelled out "will you marry me", and once I had arranged the tiles Alex got down on one knee and proposed! Of course, I said yes!

The Proposal 

Alex and I went to Physical Therapy school together and for the first year never even talked! By our second year we had become friends, but had never spent time alone. One day, the two of us went to a Cardinal's game. We were both nervous because we had never spent time with just the two of us, and I remember worrying what we would talk about for a whole baseball game. We ended up talking the entire game, and having a blast! I remember calling my mom and telling her how much fun I had at a baseball game and she was confused because 1. I had never shown interest in baseball before 2. When I told her I went with my friend Alex, she though Alex was a girl's name. For the next 1-2 months after that baseball game Alex and I spent a lot of time together. Most often we would "study in the park", which meant talking for a few hours and then heading home with no schoolwork accomplished. At the time we thought we were becoming best friends, but now I know I was getting to know my future husband! I remember liking Alex more and more each day and trying to hide it because I did not know if he felt the same way, and I did not want to ruin our friendship. Finally, one night we went out to dinner. We talked for hours and shut the restaurant down! After that, we wanted to keep hanging out, so we went to the park to play Bananagrams. Instead, we ended up confessing to each other how we truly felt. That night, I knew we had something you only get once in a lifetime. Everything since: graduating PT school, moving to Seattle, getting our first jobs, moving into our first apartment, and of course getting engaged has been wonderful with Alex by my side!

Our Story - According to Hannah

Hannah doesn't remember talking during our first year of PT school but I do. One day in class we had to change seats and I ended up sitting next to Hannah. What sticks out to me about that day was how funny and easy she was to be around. We slowly became friends over the next year in PT school and one day we decided to go to a baseball game together. I don't think I have ever been to a baseball game and paid less attention to the game. I guess there were more important things than a baseball game going on. Unfortunately, immediately following our decision to become more than friends, we were separated for six months as we finished our clinical internships.The physical distance didn't prevent us from growing closer over that six months before we went back to school for the last semester. We were lucky to be able to go through the job searching process at the same time so we could stay together. Eventually, we decided that we would move to Seattle together and the rest is history!

Katelyn was my Chi Omega Pledge Sister from Oklahoma State, senior year roommate, confidant, fellow sweet lover, and fellow runner. Katelyn works for Asbury Methodist Church in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Bridget was my Chi Omega Pledge Sister from Oklahoma State and sorority roommate. Bridget is an Optometrist in Tulsa Oklahoma. When Bridget and I lived together we never slept because we stayed up late talking every night. Many nights we spent talking about our dreams of getting our Doctorates and wondering what our future husbands would be like. Now six years later, we both have Doctorates, Bridget has a wonderful husband, and is my bridesmaid!

Jim is a college roommate and teammate at Carleton College. He is a high school teacher and assistant baseball coach at Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa, CA.

Tara was my Chi Omega Pledge Sister from Oklahoma State, partner in crime, and fellow lover of goofy puns. Tara currently works in Dallas Texas at Bottlerocket.

Bryce is a college roommate and teammate at Carleton College. He is currently an environmental journalist for the St. Louis Times Dispatch.

Corbin is my younger brother. He is currently applying to medical school.

Jessi was one of Alex and I's Physical Therapy School classmates, was my roommate third year, and is one of Alex's best friends too! Jessi is a Pediatric Physical Therapist in Pittsburg. 

Jessi Pierson 

Amy was one of our Physical Therapy school classmates and has joined us in countless Seattle adventures from 16 mile hikes to spending lazy days on the couch eating ice cream. Amy is an Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapist in Everett Washington. 

Amy Malinowski 

Watching the Bachelor, having girl talk for hours, trading book suggestions, Pilates classes, and surviving the rain have brought Breanne and I closer together! Breanne currently works in Seattle at North Highland Consulting.
