We are so glad you are here! Guests and visitors are very welcome at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church! We kindly ask that you maintain reverent silence while in the Church before, during and after the Nuptial Mass.
Please remember that the reception of Holy Communion is reserved for baptized Catholics who are in the state of grace and have been fasting for at least one hour. Please refrain from receiving communion if you are not Catholic or have not come to church in some time, as the Blessed Sacrament, being God Himself, should only be received under utmost solemnity.
What should I wear?
Dress code requires modest, decent and proper attire in church, since the Presence of God is here in the tabernacle. Traditionally, Catholics will wear their Sunday best. Ladies and girls please wear dresses and cover your heads. Lady's pants or pant suits, shorts, long slit or short skirts, sleeveless dresses or blouses, or low neck lines do not meet the norms of Christian modesty.
Men and boys please wear dress pants and a collared shirts, preferably with ties and suit jackets. please do not wear sports clothes or athletic shoes.
You ask that women cover their heads, what does that mean?
The veil is meant to be an external sign of a woman's interior desire to humble herself before God . As women, we are symbols of the Church - the Bride of Christ - and "the veil is meant to be a visible reminder of the perfect submission of the Church to the loving rule of Christ."
Some examples of head coverings are: traditional lace veils, a fancier hat, a nice bandana or head scarf. These can easily be found on Amazon for $10 or less! There are a limited amount available at the Church to use. If you have any questions contact Hannah at 616-706-2389
