Rewind to March 2014; John & Hannah meet by accident at a restaurant called “Coconuts” in Cocoa Beach, FL. John was living in Puerto Rico working on wind turbines while Hannah was a new cosmetologist in KY. 



Fast forward to April 2019. John had moved back to his home state of Iowa from Puerto Rico then to Orlando, FL. Hannah was visiting a friend in Orlando when she noticed on Snapchat that John was right down the road from where she was staying. She reached out to him but was unable to meet up since she was only in Orlando for a few nights. They made a plan to meet the following month when Hannah would be back in FL. However, that would be the weekend that John was moving across the country to Oregon.

May 2019, John & Hannah reunite! John picked Hannah up from the condo she was staying in with her mom. They would catch up for the next few hours before John needed to get back on the road. They hit it off again and would continue chatting everyday until July when John flew Hannah to Oregon for the first time.

July 2019, John officially asks Hannah to be his girlfriend and they celebrate her 26th birthday on the Oregon coast. It was a pretty magical week

They would continue to see each monthly and have amazing adventures together. August took John to KY where he would meet some of Hannah’s family and friends. September took Hannah to Spain where John and his best friend Bruce were already adventuring. October through February would take them all over Seattle, up to Canada, through the Olympic National Forest, over to Forks and more. Hannah fell in love with the PNW where she would soon move to in April 2020.

April 2020; Hannah moves from KY to OR into the home John bought for them one month prior.

They would spend the next few years endlessly exploring. They would travel to Italy, Singapore, Vietnam, England, Turkey, Netherlands, Norway, & Denmark. John proposed November 24th, 2023 at Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød, Denmark
