Hannah's Version - Jordan and I were going to spend the weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks with Jordan's best friend, Keegan, before spending the remainder of the week at my parents condo for the 4th of July (or so I thought). On the way to the lake house, we pass right by a winery Jordan & I had been to several times and love. I excitedly tell Jordan that we have to bring Keegan to the winery that weekend, it's also the first thing I tell Keegan when we talk in the door 10 minutes later. On Friday we went out boating, and then Jordan & Keegan decide that tonight is the night for the winery - perfect, I've been telling everyone we should go! At the winery, there was a very official looking drawing for a free picnic for two that Jordan so nicely signed us all up for. An hour later, when it comes time for the drawing, I yell 'pick me, this would be the perfect time for my boyfriend to propose!" as a joke, well then what do you know, my name was called! Jordan leaves to pick us out the free appetizer we got, and I turn to Keegan and tell him that I think something is up. This is hint #1 for me that something is, Keegan was SILENT, and for anyone that knows Keegan, this never happens. We are taken down to a picnic basket by a lady who works for the winery (or so I thought) who is taking pictures for us for 'their social media', during these photos Jordan gets down on one knee and proposes! He set up the drawing and hired a photographer who was staging as a worker :) Five minutes later we are chatting and celebrating, and out walks my parents, my aunt & uncle, and all of my best friends. Jordan rented an AIRBNB for all of us to stay at and celebrate for the rest of the weekend. It was the perfect proposal!

Jordan's Version - I had been scheming for quite a while on how/when I wanted to propose. We were initially planning on going on a tropical vacation before corona happened, and I was gonna do it on the beach. Then corona hit and all hell broke loose – we weren’t going anywhere, we weren’t seeing anyone.. I didn’t know what I would do.

Summer started rolling around and we were planning a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks for the weekend before the 4th of July. We were going to hang with Keegan for a couple days and then go stay with the Goetz clan for the rest of the week. This posed a great opportunity to surprise Hannah with a proposal where her friends and family could be involved too since it’s pretty close to home.

We had been to a winery at the lake a couple times before and we both really liked it and it had a pretty back drop and could be fairly private. If you know Hannah, you know she’s not much of a PDA person and would be horrified if I proposed in the middle of a bunch of people lol. I somehow came up with the idea of creating a fake raffle where we would win a bottle of wine and a private picnic where we could get away and I could pop the question. I didn’t know how the heck I was gonna pull it off, so I called up one of our best friends and master planner, Ashley Cole. She lives for planning stuff like this so she was pumped to help out. We called up the winery and they were all in on for playing along – score! Next thing in line was getting a photographer to capture the moment. One of Hannah’s bridesmaids, Danielle, hooked me up with one of her friends that is a photographer and she was in for it too. She agreed to act like she worked at the winery and wanted to take our pics for their social media marketing so it wouldn’t be too suspicious. The last piece of the puzzle was renting a VRBO so all of her best friends could come down and stay and celebrate with us.

Fast forward to the day we’re driving down to the Lake…. We’re getting close to where we would be staying and we drove past the exit for the winery and Hannah goes “Oh my gosh, we should go to Seven Springs this weekend!!”…. I couldn’t believe what I had just heard. She was falling right into my trap and things couldn’t be going better hahaha. The next afternoon we were getting off the boat and I suggested we go to the winery, so we cleaned up and headed over. Ashley and Ashtyn had already been at the winery setting up our ‘free raffle’ and ‘picnic’. Once we got there we signed up for the raffle, got some wine, and went and hung out. It was like 95 degrees out that afternoon and we were DRIPPING sweat. Thankfully, before too long they came out and announced the winner of the raffle. As they were starting to call out the winner, Hannah stood up and yelled out “Pick me!! This would be a great time for my boyfriend to propose to me!!!” *FACE PALM* Had to try to play that off as cool as possible but all I could do was shake my head. I went in and got our wine and a ‘hostess’ aka our photographer walked us down to the area where our picnic was. Down at the picnic area was a basket that Ashley had set up with a bottle inside that said “Will you marry me?” on the label. I pulled that out, blacked out, stumbled over my words, and proposed to her with a bottle of wine instead of the ring hahahaha. Next thing we knew, Hannah’s best friends and parents came out of hiding and we all celebrated for the rest of the weekend!
