Beautiful Martha's Vineyard located seven miles off the coast of Cape Cod is a quick ferry ride from multiple locations.
The Steamship Authority provides year-round passenger and auto (the only ferry that accommodates autos) ferry service from Woods Hole on Cape Cod virtually all day long.
Advanced reservations are needed for cars, especially June through August, but passengers never need a reservation.
Travel distance is 7 miles, and the trip takes approximately 45 minutes. The ferry has WIFI, refreshments and indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy the beautiful views of Vineyard Sound.
Ferries dock in Vineyard Haven or in Oak Bluffs mid-May through mid-October.
Either port works as the ports are no more than 10 minutes apart.

Traveling on the Steamship Authority With a Car:
July is peak travel season to and from the Vineyard and July weekend reservations sell out very quickly.
If you are planning on bringing a vehicle to the island, it is VERY important that you book your vehicle reservation as early as possible to get your desired travel days/times.
Vehicle reservations open on January 12, 2017 and we strongly recommend you book your vehicle reservation as early as possible.
If you have not traveled to Martha's Vineyard on the Steamship Authority with your car, you'll need to create a User Account before you make your vehicle reservation.

If you park your car in one of the off-site parking lots, the Steamship Authority provides a Free shuttle bus service back and forth between each lot and the ferry terminal.

This scenic trip takes 30 minutes from Falmouth Harbor to Oak Bluffs, bicycles are permitted, and parking is available nearby.
Falmouth-Edgartown Ferry from Falmouth on Cape Cod to Edgartown.
This 72 foot luxury fast ferry is the only ferry that sails into Edgartown Harbor.Cruise the waters of Vineyard Sound for a 75 minute trip to Edgartown.
Hy-line Cruisesfrom Hyannis on Cape Cod, Massachusetts to Oak Bluffs
This service offers both high speed and traditional ferry service from mid-Cape to Oak Bluffs. Fares, and schedules vary, and parking is available nearby. Bicycles are permitted for an additional fee.
SeaStreakfrom New York and New Jersey as well as from New Bedford in Southeastern Massachusetts.
The New York to Martha's Vineyard service takes 5 hours with no connecting stops. WIFI, bar and refreshments and 12 large screen TVs available. The fast ferry service from New Bedford takes 50 minutes, and bicycles are permitted.
Martha's Vineyard Fast Ferry from North Kingston, Rhode Island.
Fast Ferry service takes 75 minutes, bicycles and pets are permitted. There is secure dockside parking provided. C, snacks and refreshments onboard. Seasonal service May thru October. Reservations highly recommended.
