Our Wedding

Some people spend their whole lives looking for their perfect match.&nbsp;When in truth, perfect matches don’t really exist.&nbsp;Before we are born, God knows the path we will lead for He shaped it with his own hands. It is when we are at our lows, he provides us with something to foster hope and strength. That “something” was “someone”. Our relationship began during the most trying of times.&nbsp;We were both going through the ups and downs of college and major life changes.&nbsp;We took every chance possible to escape life.&nbsp;For months, we spent our evening time on the sandy beach indulging in comforting and friendly conversations.&nbsp;We talked about life and what it might come to be, we talked of the sweet memories of the past and all the hurt laced in between.&nbsp;Our evening beach trips soon turned into muggy summer days in Charleston riding around in a pick up, blasting Michael Buble, and driving fence posts to stake “Katie Arrington for Congress” signs in the ground.&nbsp;&nbsp; Our relationship has never been defined by the way society constructs it to be. We don’t have the kissing in the rain story that everyone likes to tell but it is equally entertaining. Hannah knew that I liked her - she had to. What guy picks you up, takes you to a nice dinner and serenades you with Michael Buble? I really liked her - but she did not seem interested. We spent the summer together, wild and free. Then, I moved back home to Williamston. We communicated every day and she even came to visit me for the legendary Williamston 4th of July. That is when I started to think, she might really like me… Later that summer, just before I returned to the Citadel, I wanted to come back to Charleston early and do a bit of regular college life partying. Hannah and I were in the same circles and it was no secret that I was really going to see her.&nbsp; That night, Hannah had planned a friendly-ish date night and a trip to our special place, the Morris Island lighthouse. She had cigars and a bottle of wine, I mean it was planned perfectly… It was the beginning of our kissing in the rain story - that is until a boat ran completely ashore not even 25 yards from us. It was State Senator Sandy Senn, I got caught up in trying to help her and completely forgot about Hannah. I mean this was my sign from God. This was not just happenstance, this was an answered prayer - I mean it clearly is my calling to go into politics.&nbsp; Austin has the most selfless heart, it is one of the many qualities I fell in love with when I first met him.&nbsp;As he ran down the beach to help the stranded boater, I bent down in the sand and wrote “I’m Sorry but I Love You” and encased it with our shoes and Austin's guitar.&nbsp;I just knew I couldn't live the rest of my life without him… and politics.&nbsp;As he ran back to me, my heart beat out of my chest.&nbsp;He grabbed his guitar and rambled on and on about Sandy Senn, completely missing my love for him spelled out word for word.&nbsp;I sat in silence the whole car ride home, he knew something was wrong.&nbsp;As I dropped him off and started my drive home I yelled out the window “maybe soon you'll understand…” That evening I received a text message asking me to come outside, Austin was there waiting.&nbsp;It was no secret that I had feelings for him, although I tried so hard for so long to hide them.&nbsp;In that moment, he leaned in to steal a kiss, I leaned in and grabbed a hug.&nbsp;I was preparing to leave for Italy for an extended period of time and in no way was I in the right season of life to start a relationship.&nbsp;God had different plans for us though.&nbsp;He had built us from the beginning to be friends first, full of trust, able to communicate with ease, and strong enough to withstand anything.&nbsp;For the next four months we continued to grow together and learn about each other from 4,749 miles apart.&nbsp;When I got home and ran into his comforting arms, I felt nothing but pure love.&nbsp;&nbsp; Since then, Hannah and I have had some amazing adventures. I am so grateful to have her as the love of my life, dancing partner, passenger seat singer, hand to hold, best friend and bride to be. I cannot wait to see the adventures we are about to embark on come to life. I love you.&nbsp; It is hard to believe that just a year and a half after returning from Italy, we would go back to Morris Island Headlight and my life would change for the better.&nbsp;Holding Paisley in my arms and seeing you down on one knee in the place where it all started.&nbsp;For a moment I didn't feel the pain from the past nor fear the future, all I saw was the present.&nbsp;In that moment I knew I wouldn't have to worry about living a single moment of life without you by my side.&nbsp;I think I owe it to God for the blessing he has bestowed upon me and for helping me find my ray of light in a world of darkness.&nbsp;I love you, MORE!

Austin's Alma Mater 

The Citadel Military College of South Carolina was established in 1842. Austin will graduate from The Citadel May 2021 with a bachelors degree in Political Science and Business Administration. While attending The Citadel Austin served as Regimental Cadet Activities Officer, Member of The Citadel Foundation, and as Vice President and President of The Republican Society. Bringing Vice President Mike Pence to Charleston for the 2020 Patriots Dinner.

Hannah's Alma Mater 

The College of Charleston was founded in 1770, making it the oldest college in South Carolina. Hannah graduated from The College of Charleston in 2020 with a bachelors degree in Communication and Political Science. While attending The College Hannah was a member of Phi Mu. She studied her freshman year in Spain and spent her first semester sophomore year in Florence, Italy studying the slow food movement and traveling throughout Europe.
