Paul and Hannah met via online dating about three months after she moved to Milwaukee for work. Their first date was at a coffee shop where Paul was worried that Hannah would only order black coffee and Hannah was worried about getting home to help an aunt after surgery. They had an amazing time where Paul was only once outshone by another customer at Collectivo, a large dog who wanted Hannah's attention.

They spent the next year getting to know each other over coffee and books, along with a few board games. Hannah knew he was a keeper when he bought books that she recommended, and Paul knew she was important when he bought the books (and with how often she talked about her family and friends).

Hannah and Paul got engaged approximately one hour before their one year anniversary after Hannah planned a surprise vacation to a hobbit-town in The Smoky Mountains. He proposed using her mother's ring by a fire pit shaped like the one ring.

They now live together in West Allis in the Milwaukee area with Hannah's dog Whiskey, who has since chosen Paul as her REAL life partner.
