Hannah and Carson’s story began in January 2023 in a geography class at Samford University - a class Hannah wasn’t even supposed to be in. Her original astronomy course didn’t fit her schedule, and as luck would have it, the only open seat in her new class was in the front row, right next to Carson.

The two quickly became friends and gradually came out of their shells as the semester went on - something their geography professor even noticed. Hannah often went to Samford baseball games, quietly cheering Carson on while they both navigated the ups and downs of a crazy spring semester. Between Hannah’s senior year and preparing for graduate school, an injury, and Carson’s focus on a future in baseball, dating wasn’t on either of their agendas.

That changed a few months later. In June 2023, both happened to be at a Birmingham Barons game with separate friend groups. They ran into each other, caught up, and ended up sitting together in the stands, just before the Kiss Cam found them. To everyone’s surprise, Carson shocked the crowd by leaning in and kissing Hannah right there in the stadium. From that moment on, they knew they had to give this thing a shot.

A week later, Hannah met Carson’s family; a week after that, Carson traveled to Georgia for the Fourth of July to meet hers. On July 11, 2023, Carson was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers, and knowing he wanted to make things official before heading off into professional baseball, he asked Hannah to be his girlfriend the very next day.

Since then, they’ve navigated long distance, calling Birmingham home during the offseason. Along the way, they’ve traveled all over, supported each other through the rhythm of baseball life, and built a relationship grounded in friendship, shared goals, and plenty of laughter.

On December 7, 2025, after church, Carson took a “wrong turn” on the way to breakfast and proposed to Hannah at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. She was completely surprised!

Now, Hannah and Carson are so excited for their wedding in the fall of 2026 and can’t wait to start their future together.
