Get to know us

About Us

TC and Hannah are blessed to have loved ones all over the world that they love deeply. Friends and family are something that we both cherish – and we love having all of you follow and be a part of our story. Unfortunately, due to location, time restraints, and many other factors we realize that each of us have many friends and family who have not been able to meet or get to know the other.

We have many, many shared interests and passions that drew us to each other. Chicken fingers, travel, sharks, pretty much anything small and furry, and photography are a few of those interests and passions that we bonded over. We wrote a little about each other and what we love about each other below so you all can get to know us a little better!

GET TO KNOW TC

For Hannah's Friends and Family who have not yet had the privilege of meeting or speaking with TC – Here's a little bit about him.

TC grew up in the Atlanta area. He first attended Sarah Smith Elementary and moved to Pace Academy from Junior High through High School graduation. He has one younger brother, Patrick, who is an Architect in New York and his Best Man. While in high school, he played soccer (at Pace, where his nickname "Iron Leg" was his claim to fame, and with the Cosmos at the local YMCA), tennis, and assisted with the theater crew . He was active in Boy Scout Troop 467 and earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the troop. He was also an avid guitarist, playing guitar with friends in The Complete Muppets. When he wasn't doing any of the above, he was playing ultimate frisbee or snow skiing/dreaming of snow skiing.

Following high school, although he joked about going to school in Colorado and spending the next 4 years skiing, he earned his Bachelors in Science in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. During college, he was an active brother in Zeta Beta Tau and a guitarist for the band That Was Then. He also played guitar in a side project with high school classmates and worked summers setting up for concerts (national acts such as Jimmy Buffet, Justin Timberlake, and Metallica) in the Atlanta area. At Vanderbilt he also started a long journey with biomedical research, working as an undergraduate researcher in the Department of Pharmacology.

After graduating from Vanderbilt in 2005, TC worked moved back to Atlanta and worked as a Research Technician at Emory University in the Departments of Psychiatry and Human Genetics until 2009. During this time, he picked up Photography, and enjoys spending free time taking photographs. In the fall of 2009, he transitioned from Research Technician to Graduate Student and continued on to complete Emory University's Doctor of Philosophy in the Neuroscience Program in June of 2015. It was during this time he met Hannah, in the fall of 2014. Upon completion of his PhD, he passed the United States Patent and Trademark Office registration exam in early Fall 2015 with Hannah by his side the whole time. Currently TC works as a Patent Agent alongside his dad, Todd Deveau, at the boutique intellectual property firm Thomas Horstemeyer LLP.

GET TO KNOW HANNAH

For TC's Friends and Family who have not yet had the privilege of meeting or speaking with Hannah – Here's a little bit about her.

Hannah was born and raised just north of Atlanta around Marietta and Canton Georgia. Her family has been in the Marietta area for generations and 0ur venue choices reflect a bit of her family's history in the area. Hannah has one older sibling - Jeremy who is a groomsmen and one of Hannah's closest friends.

Hannah was homeschooled from kindergarten-fifth grade when she entered into Mount Paran Christian School.

Hannah attended Carlton J, Kell High School and somehow managed to graduate on schedule in 2009 after spending the majority of her class time finding ways to avoid spending time in class, which earned her the senior superlative of "worst case senioritis". Her time after school was spent working multiple odd jobs- some of which included Build a Bear Workshop, the Limited Too, Joann Fabrics and babysitting for her neighbor's grandchildren who were temporarily living with their grandparents due to their parents (who are both dual active duty army officers) simultaneous deployments to Iraq. By senior year she had no clue what she wanted to do beyond graduation. A few months before graduation Hannah received an email from Michelle- the mother of the children she babysat. The email explained that Michelle would be returning from her deployment in Iraq and moving to Fort Bragg North Carolina 6 months before her husband Ken would follow. Michelle asked if Hannah would be interested in moving to North Carolina to work as a live-in-nanny with Michelle and her two boys who were 2 and 4 at the time and already had so much of Hannah's love- and so of course - the details were arranged and Hannah moved to Fort Bragg the summer of 2009.

The expectation on both ends was for this job to be a 6-month commitment to assist this family of 4 through the remainder of a deployment. What happened was so much better. Ken and Michelle brought a third baby boy into the world in December of 2009 and their family of 4 grew to a family of 6 the day that Trevor was born and Hannah held him for the first time. Hannah remained with their family for 5 years - and moved with them from North Carolina, to Kentucky, and to Germany where they lived for two years. During those two years living in Germany Hannah was able to visit 18 countries, and fill multiple journals with memories of the happiest times of her life to date.

In the summer of 2013 the time came for her to move back to Georgia.

Since- Hannah has worked as an office manager for her family's business which sells, services, and installs high end fireplaces and grills - but she has within the past year (2015-2016) returned to the work that she is truly passionate about and has worked her dream job caring for two precious one year old girls who will be her flower girls in May.

Hannah met TC the fall of 2014 and everything from the day they met in October until now has been an adventure different from any other in their lives.

WHAT TC LOVES ABOUT HANNAH

Hannah is beautiful, caring, supportive, thoughtful, loving, and has an enormous heart. We share many passions from photography to food to sharks. We have taught each other to be passionate about other aspects of life too. She's taught me the value of a good hammock, that Waffle House should not be underappreciated, that there are approximately 101 [million] uses for wooden pallets, and keeping emergency oreos in your car is always a good idea...to name a few.

She is incredibly caring, and is an amazingly talented nanny who has a natural way with newborns and children that I admire. She is an excellent and very talented photographer as well. She is a natural working with couples and newborns, and we make a great photography team.

We share many culinary tastes. She not only appreciates my love of mexican food and indulges when I want to bring home all of the queso [dip], but is also always up for a good chicken finger (as long as there's honey mustard). She shares my passion for cookies and cream ice cream and is always excited about sharing a bowl with me.

She is incredibly creative and crafty, and whether it's a sign or a homemade Christmas tree, I admire her ability to craft, create, and her DIY spirit. I look forward to Christmas because we can put up the Christmas tree and ornaments she made, and I can't wait to see what she'll create next.

She has a wonderful sense of humor and is not only tolerant of my need to drop terrible puns, but encourages it and even shares them with other people on occasion. She keeps me laughing, and making her laugh is often one of the favorite parts of my day.

She is incredibly loving and has a huge heart. Whether she's giving love to sick animals she's taken in, the children she nannies, her family, her friends, or myself, she always has love to give...and more.

She is my person, my # 1 fan, and is the most supportive partner in crime I could have ever asked for. From being by my side and cheering me on to the finish line of graduate school to surprising me with new socks for work to threatening to send my photos to National Geographic on my behalf to getting complete strangers to compliment my beard, she always knows how to give me the love and support I need. She loves me for me, and never shies away from letting me know with post-it notes around the apartment (although sometimes they're hidden and I don't find them until much later). We have had many adventures to date, and she is someone I can't wait to spend the rest of my with on our greatest adventure.

What Hannah loves about TC

TC is patient, he is kind, he is slow to anger and quick to forgive.

TC is handsome, nurturing, and one of the most interesting and versatile people I have ever had the privilege to know. He is somehow both left and right brained. He is a neuroscientist, musician, artist, world-traveler, fisherman, and a shockingly talented rapper. He is as passionate and excited about sharks as I am. He appreciates (and never judges) my tendencies to keep oreos in my car, and my freezer stocked full of cookies & cream ice cream. In short- he has allowed me to be fully and unapologetically myself with him since day one and he has given me the same. This in itself may not be remarkable but being fully seen by him and to have him love me more and more - has been beautiful and freeing.

He has loved me in a way that has been consistent, intentional, and relentless since we began. I love that I can occasionally anticipate his words and actions because of how consistently wonderful he has been. He has slowly changed my heart from being the kind of person who expects the worst to the kind of person who expects the best.

He keeps me laughing, learning, and challenging myself.

Before TC, I would occasionally sit down to create a list of characteristics and values that I would need and want for my husband to have - to make sure that I was dating with a purpose. Any of those lists describe a wonderful man who would make a great partner- but TC is more than anything I outlined. He is more than I ever dared allow myself to hope for- and it gets better- he chose me. He chooses me every day- and being called his - to be called his wife- is honestly and truly the honor of my life.
