It all began in 8th grade when John and Hannah first crossed paths in a study hall at their new school in Huntsville. John remembers that moment like it was yesterday—the way Hannah’s smile lit up the room, how the air felt different when she walked in. From that day, he was head over heels. On that magical night, in the middle of all the lights and holiday cheer, John asked Hannah to be his girlfriend. It wasn’t an engagement, but Hannah’s reaction was dramatic enough to make everyone around think it was the proposal!

Fast forward a year and a half, and John’s heart couldn’t take any more of just dating. He wanted more. So, with a well-laid-out plan, he convinced Hannah that he wasn’t planning on proposing for a while—he even went as far as to make sure she didn’t expect it anytime soon. The excitement of that perfect day was almost too much to contain.

On November 23, John led Hannah on one of their favorite walks through Big Spring Park. Hannah, ever the trooper, had no idea that this was the day that would change everything. She thought it was just another peaceful morning stroll. But when they reached the spot John had been dreaming of for years—the exact spot where he’d planned to get down on one knee—she kept walking.

When he called her name, she turned around, only to find him on one knee, holding a ring in his hand and his heart in the other.

"Will you marry me?" he asked, and in that moment, time seemed to stand still. Of course, she said yes, tears in her eyes, with the biggest smile on her face. It was the best day of her life—the culmination of all the years John had been waiting for her to come around.

Afterward, they were surrounded by their family and friends at a surprise engagement party, and as the day went on, they both realized that they were just a few steps away from making their dream of forever together a reality.
