Nick and I first met each other in the 8th grade at JCTMS. It was not until high school that we became close friends. It started out as a best friend type of relationship, it wasn't until we both entered college that we both admitted our "like" for each other. We began dating our Freshman year of college, May of 2008. It was a big move, considering I lived in Lexington and he lived in Louisville at the time. We spent ourweekends traveling back and forth to one another for a semester. Luckily, I moved home after my first year in Lex and that is when we became closer than ever. Over the past six years, our relationship has seen it ups and downs. I thank God every day that this man walked into my life and did not walk out. We have been through it all together and I would not want to spend my life with anyone else but this man. He definitely keeps me in check with my adult responsibilities and I am so thankful for that. I look forward to building a family with him and all that our future holds.
Nick proposed to me shortly after our 6 year dating anniversary. I was completely taken by surprise, since I was suspecting the proposal to be on a vacation we were discussing. Since the vacation did not take place, Nick surprised me one morning by waking me up with a wonderful breakfast made. I was a little confused, because this was not something that he usually did. I am rarely woken up by him for breakfast, because he knows how much I love my sleep. haha. After we ate breakfast, he walked out of the room and returned with a beautiful bouquet of red roses with one white rose in the center. He handed me a card and asked me to read it, and he was so excited that he just said forget reading the card and look inside the white rose. That is when I found my beautiful engagement ring, that I am still so in love with. I was so excited and surprised and could not wait to say yes and spend the rest of my life with this man.
