It all started on March 25, 2017. Phi Mu planned a date dash with a variety of fraternities, and Hannah's happened to be some gentlemen from Lambda Chi. She was introduced to the three of them, one of them being named "DBuck." The group was successful in their scavenger hunt through the Speed Art Museum, and a photo was taken to commemorate the moment. (Some say the photo still exists on "DBuck"'s instagram... ignore Hannah's floating head.)
Unfortunately, the story ends there for the time being. Hannah and Daniel (which she later learned was his real name) would cross paths, exchange information, someone would forget to text (*cough* Daniel *cough*) and the cycle would continue up until the end of 2019.
All it took was one picture to reconnect the two - a photo of Hannah's fresh manicure, paid for by a Skyline customer. Messages were once again exchanged, and then they didn't stop. Hannah, in her utter naivety, thought she had made a really great new friend. Daniel, knowing he had been trying since 2017 to make a move, was more than ready to move out of the friendzone. A date was planned... and then the world shut down with Covid.
What would have ideally started over dinner and drinks instead had to start over Facetimes and socially-distanced movie watch parties. When they finally had the chance to hang out just the two of them, they realized this was something special.
Four years, three cats, and a condo later, the two got engaged in Washington, DC on April 6, 2024 during a sunrise walk through the monuments. It was everything Hannah could have hoped for and more.
Through all the years, one thing is for sure. It was worth the wait.
