Adam and I met at Iowa State in the fall of 2015 during our sophomore year. I was at a friend's party and his friends lived down the hall.&nbsp;He was wearing a Walk the Moon t-shirt so that was the perfect&nbsp;conversation starter.&nbsp;Some days later, I saw him at the X-Ambassadors concert on campus. He said hi while we were in line then during the concert. Then during the concert, I was in front of the crowd&nbsp;but&nbsp;he found my friends and asked if I could take me on a date!&nbsp;Unfortunately,&nbsp;I was talking to another gentleman at the time so&nbsp;my friends politely told him I&nbsp;was not available...&nbsp;

A few months later, I&nbsp;recognized Adam at another party! I kept telling my friend, that I was pretty sure that was the "Walk the Moon" kid.&nbsp;As he was leaving, I&nbsp;got the courage to say hi and he recognized me right away. He&nbsp;proceeded to ask if I still had a boyfriend which I&nbsp;responded that I&nbsp;didn't. Then he&nbsp;asked for my number!







We then went on a "date" to a coffee shop in Ames because I&nbsp;wanted to get to know him first before a dinner date, you know? ;) It went well and then we want on a dinner date a few days later to a Hibachi grill. Adam picked me up from campus as I had meetings, classes, and work all day. Young the Giant was playing in his car when I&nbsp;got in *my favorite band*.&nbsp;



We went on more dates, found out we had mutual friends, spent summers apart and my 6 week trip to New Zealand,&nbsp;graduated college together, and moved to Wisconsin, made it through a pandemic, and&nbsp;got married on May 24,&nbsp;2020. This leads to where we are today!&nbsp;

The Story

Adam proposed at my parents house in rural Iowa. My family, Adam and I had just finished building a snowman and having a joyful snowball fight. My dad, a photographer, told Adam and I to come over to the tree for a picture and Adam ran to his car to get his "vest" which had the ring in it. We took one posed shot towards my dad then Adam turned to me to tell me he loved me and he asked the big question. My family came running over to us as they were still in the snowball fight and sledding. There were cheers, some tears, and hugs. It was beyond magical!&nbsp;

There is a parking lot right next to the&nbsp;building that has parking spaces. There are also 2 parking ramps: 1) is&nbsp;right by iron works building (2 blocks) and 2) the other&nbsp;is 2 blocks the opposite direction towards main street. Then&nbsp;there is street/metered parking The main entrance is on the corner of the building (there is a sign that says main entrance on the building) but the building entrance is on 168 east 10th Street so 1 block off of White Street.

Information on Parking

There is a city parking lot that is accessible from 10th Street on the South East side of the Novelty Iron Works/Millwork&nbsp;building (near the parking ramp). This is complimentary Monday-Friday from 6PM-6AM and ALL&nbsp;Day on Saturday and Sunday.

There is a city parking lot that is accessible from 11th Street on the North West side of the Novelty Iron Works/Millwork building (near True Fitness). This is complimentary Monday-Friday from 6PM-6AM and All Day on Saturday and Sunday. There is parking on many of the streets around the Novelty Iron Works/Millwork&nbsp;building. Most of them are Metered Parking from 8AM -&nbsp;5PM Monday-Saturday, however, 11th Street does not have meters.

The 1432&nbsp;acres which make up the Mines of Spain State Recreation area include a variety of interesting land forms, plant species and communities, animals and water types. A large portion of the area is rugged, wooded Mississippi River Bluff-land. While much of the original timber along the Mississippi River was logged off during the steamboat era (1865-1880), portions of the Mines of Spain area were left untouched, leaving us with burr oak trees today that are over 250 years old.
