Our first picture together after a football game our junior year of high school. A few days before this picture, Tristin's dad, Andy, told Tristin that if he told me "good game" after my volleyball game, that he would buy Tristin a tank of gas. Tristin took the offer. A week after this picture, Tristin asked me to go to lunch with him "as friends," which continues to be our title around the Laughlin household. We went to George's Restaurant and talked for 3 hours. The quiet boy who walked the halls with his hood up and earphones in surprised me with the depth of his authenticity and the passion he carried for what truly mattered to him. When I went home that day, I told my mom that if he gave me a chance, I think that we could love each other. After a few more weeks of hanging out "as friends," Tristin asked me to be his girlfriend.
