Our Wedding

Justis and Hannah met freshman year at Dallas Baptist University. Hannah, at the time, was in a sorority and had a formal dance coming up. It was a requirement to bring a date to this formal, though Hannah had no idea who to bring. So, she was in desperate need of a date to formal. Then, one of Hannah’s friends called her and said “Hannah I have the perfect person for you to take to the formal!” She was very surprised by her friend’s confidence. This person was Justis. However, Justis wouldn’t agree to go to the formal without meeting Hannah in person. This led to their first meeting at the university Chick-Fil-A where they both skipped freshman chapel to meet each other. Justis was smitten at first glance, however, Hannah wanted to take things slowly. Yet, they walked away from the Chick-Fil-A with each other’s numbers, and plans to continue getting to know one another. Soon after, their first date was on the calendar: Chuys. A month and a couple Greek Life events later, Justis finally built up the courage to confess that he liked Hannah. Hannah, however, didn’t feel like it was the right time. Now this is when Justis would say: “Hannah broke my heart.” The next year was one where contact between them was very little. However, neither forgot one another in their prayers. Hannah spent many hours in prayer as she felt her heart beginning to soften towards pursuing a relationship with Justis. One night, as Justis was sitting in the RA office in the Lange dorm, he got a text from Hannah. What Justis remembers is Hannah wanted to talk about some things that were “on her heart.” This led to a conversation where Hannah opened the door for him to pursue her again. After spending time together in person, they picked up right where they had left off. And after a couple dates, Justis asked her to be his girlfriend. She said “yes!” Two weeks from beginning their relationship, they then spent two months apart. Justis was in Boston serving a local church, and Hannah was an intern serving at her hometown church. The next school year Justis and Hannah were both mentors in a program at DBU. This year was hard for them both, but marked by refinement from the Lord, and growing steadfastness. By the end of it, they were confident in pursuing marriage. The next summer was sweet as Hannah served the Lord in Zambia, and Justis figured out post graduation things. Without the knowledge of Hannah, things were beginning to all lead up to a special day. On October 19th, 2024 Justis got down on his knee and passionately asked if Hannah would do him the honor of marrying him. Thankfully this time, she said “yes!” Now, we are pleased to commend the God of all providence for working through our whole relationship. Bringing us together bit by bit, to where we may display His glory through marriage.
