Doug and Hannah's story began in 2009 when they crossed paths during their high school years. While Doug attended Crestwood High School and Hannah went to Streetsboro High School, their connection was formed through sports events, mutual friends and parties. It was during their senior year that Doug asked Hannah to senior prom.

Despite their separate ways, Hannah and Doug unexpectedly crossed paths after going to different colleges. Hannah enrolled at Kent State University, while Doug pursued MercyHurst University.

Although the distance and new experiences each embarked upon, fate had other plans for their connection.

It was during a fateful summer break that Hannah and Doug found themselves in their shared hometown. Doug's best man, Josh, had a surprise in mind. Josh invited Hannah and Doug to join him on a camping trip, assuming that they were aware of each other's attendance. However, Josh failed to communicate to either of them.
