If you need any recommendations in the Chicago area, please do let us know! We love sharing about our favorite places, restaurants, breweries and activities in the city, but there are too many to list! However, here are a few fun options we would recommend both in the city and the suburbs for those staying in town. We hope you have a great weekend in the Chicago area for our wedding weekend, if you plan to stay and make a vacation out of your trip!
The White Sox are the Prokop family's team (and now Hannah's Chicago team too) and are in town the weekend of our wedding and are playing the Boston Red Sox! It also happens to be our favorite giveaway day, Hawaiian Shirt Day! The game is at 3:10pm if you are looking for a fun activity in downtown for your Saturday! The Metra train (Milwaukee District West train line) picks up in Elgin and can take you into downtown, or you can drive and park at the ballpark!
TopGolf in Schaumburg is a great activity all year around, and not too far from our wedding! It is actually very close to where we live in the suburbs, and we enjoy going with friends or to compete one on one! The food and drinks there are great as well, but we would recommend getting a reservation as it can be very popular and very busy on the weekends!
Second City is where some of the biggest names in comedy got their start, including Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Catherine O'Hara, and many others! The Dinner-Theater style comedy shows range from seasoned actors/comedians to novice participants, but will guarantee many laughs!
The Architecture tours on the Chicago River are a "must-see" when visiting the Windy City, especially in the summertime! Take a cruise down the river and learn about the fascinating architecture stories of Chicago, and see all the wonderful sites downtown has to offer! You can also opt for the sunset cruise on Lake Michigan, and take in the views from the lake as the sun sets behind the skyline! Hannah and Mike took the sunset cruise to celebrate their 1-year anniversary, and it was beautiful (even if it was only 40 degrees)!
