Wedding Q&A
Wedding day plans?
February 11th is a sailing day at sea. Our wedding ceremony is taking place in Dazzles Lounge onboard Symphony of the Seas. Doors open at 1pm, the ceremony starts at 1:30pm. After the ceremony, we will have our reception with live music, unlimited cocktails, Hors D'oeuves, have our first dance, cut the cake etc.
After our venue block, we will head up to the deck with our photographers to get ocean view photos with all friends and family.
At 5/5:15pm, we will head to main dining for dinner together. After dinner, choose to enjoy your night or continue celebrating us around the ship and seeing where the night takes us! Which likely involves more music and dancing! It's going to be an incredible day and we are thankful to celebrate it with you!
Is there a dress code for the wedding ceremony?
Yes, we're asking the guests to wear formal attire which is traditional for a cruise and wedding.
Optional guest color theme is 'Deep Blue Sea', wearing deep shades of Blue, Teal, and Black.
Can we take pictures and videos of your wedding ceremony?
Yes, please! We encourage anyone who would like to, to take pictures and videos of our wedding ceremony and share them with us. We will have 2 photographers. But we appreciate all of your skills to get this wedding from all angles.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes. Although our wedding ceremony, events, and shore excursions will be geared towards adults, your kids are welcome to join in on the fun and best part, kids 12 or younger sail free!
Cruising Q&A
Questions about booking & traveling to the cruise
How do I book the cruise?
Visit our Cruise Itinerary & Booking tab for details
When should I book the cruise?
We recommend you book the cruise sooner than later. We have seen rooms fill-up completely months ahead of the cruise. A $500 minimum deposit is needed to book, and you can pay the remainder as late as November 2024 if you choose.
Do I need a passport?
No. This is a "closed-loop" cruise, meaning it begins and ends in the United States, so you do not need a passport. Although bringing your passport will make the onboarding and offboarding process more simple. If you do not have one, you can bring your birth certificate and your drivers license.
Do you have any tips for choosing a room on the cruise?
Definitely! Although this cruise ship is essentially a small city, we are in the ocean. Rooms towards the middle of the ship will help mitigate the rocking. We usually book and enjoy ocean-view balcony rooms. However, if you don’t spend much time in your room it may be best to book an internal room for a lower price.
Keep in mind prices fluctuate, so keep an eye on the prices, but don't wait too long before booking!
Do we have a room block for our guests?
No. We do not have a room block for our guests because we want it to remain flexible for you to choose your price, timeframe, and location.
Tell me about the Royal Caribbean app.
We recommend to download the app as soon as you book. You can see your reservation, ship layout, shore excursion options, account details, activity times etc.. There is messaging within the app so you can stay connected with your friends and families onboard the ship.
Flying tips?
We recommend flying into Miami International Airport (MIA) at least 1 day before the cruise departs just in case there are any weather delays. The safest decision, given winter weather, is to fly in 2 days before and spend another day in Miami.
How do I get to the cruise port?
Uber or Lyft recommended. Some hotels may offer a shuttle to the port.
What time do I get on the cruise ship for sailing day?
After booking, you will receive your recommended check in time. We have always shown up in the morning around 10 or 11am so that we can enjoy more time on the ship.
What should I expect when arriving at the cruise port in Miami?
Once you get dropped off from your Uber/Lyft, the baggage drop off feels a little chaotic as its busy. Have your room number ready to provide to the luggage attendants as they will tag and take your big bags onboard. Make sure to keep your travel documents and any other necessities with you in your bag and/or carry-on! After that step, you'll proceed to the cruise terminal which feels similar to airport security. Once you go through security and get checked-in, you'll be getting on the ship. Once you get on the ship, your room isn't ready right away, so expect to explore/hang around the ship, grab some food, connect with your travel friends, and start relaxing! Your large bags will be delivered to your stateroom later in the day along with your SeaPass card.
What should I bring on the cruise?
Passport (if you don't have one, bring official birth certificate), drivers license, motion sickness pills/patches (if needed), lots of swimwear, at least 1 formal outfit for formal dining & wedding ceremony, 1 bottle of wine/champagne per person, and anything else you usually bring on vacations!
Questions about being onboard the Cruise
What about meals on the cruise?
There is no shortage of free food! Just about all day every day they will have buffets open, sandwich shops, bars, pizza places, and main dining. They also have a handful of fine-dining restaurants that you can choose to pay for if you would like.
What about alcohol on board?
Water and some tea, coffees, and juices are free. However, you have the option to purchase a soda or alcohol drink package. You may also purchase drinks individually (that's what we typically do). There are a variety of packages ranging from soft drink only, to some of the nicest spirits they have. The drink package will also fluctuate leading up to the cruise so keep an eye on it if you are interested.
Can I bring my own alcohol onto the ship?
Yes (sort of)! You are not allowed to bring hard liquor or beer on. You are allowed to bring 1 sealed 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne per person. (If you don't drink, that's okay. But feel free to bring a bottle on board to share if you have the space in your checked luggage!)
Will I have internet or cell service?
This varies by cell carrier, Verizon or T-Mobile usually have you pay per text, call and data usage while in the Caribbean. But if you'll need more, you may purchase the internet package through Royal Caribbean.
Do we have to do all activities together?
We do plan to have dinner nightly in the formal main dining room at 5:15pm if you would like join us! However, outside of the wedding day, please feel free to do whatever you would like - you're on vacation! If you would like to join us for any excursions you can choose to do so (we will post under the travel tab). Also, we will use the messenger feature on the app once we are on the ship to inform you of shows we plan to attend if you would like to join us. (Invitation, not an obligation)
I get sea-sick easily, any tips?
No worries! Hannah gets motion sickness easily and has never gotten sea sick onboard a cruise. This is the 3rd largest cruise ship in the world and spans almost 1200 feet long! It's so large that you won't feel the rocking like you will on a boat. Now, you will feel some movement and we recommend to book your room close to the middle of the ship and bring motion sickness medication (like Dramamine) to mitigate sea sickness if you're concerned.
What about shore excursions?
There are optional shore excursions you can pay for and book online (or on the app). Shore excursions are not required, as you can explore the ports we stop at however you would like. We recommend booking excursions if you would like to do a planned fun activity during the stops. Excursions can fill up quick so you may want to book some of those before even setting sail! We want everyone to enjoy their vacation and book any excursion you would like. We will also post any excursions we book under "Travel tab" if you would like to join us.
Tell me more about the ports we're stopping at.
The ports we're stopping at have tons to offer! CocoCay is Royal Caribbean's private island with multiple beaches, pools, waterparks, and restaurants. The best part about CocoCay is that all food is free here and if you purchased a drink package, that will also work on the island! All cruise ports also have excursions, where you can take tours around the city/island, ride jet skis, explore local food & drink, snorkel, and so much more! But even if you want a chill day, there are tons of shops and restaurants right at the port that you can enjoy.
What kind of entertainment is on the ship?
There are shows every night from comedy, live music, plays, and much more. Best part - all of it is free! They also have many pools, hot tubs, water-park, mini-golf, arcade, casino, and the list goes on!
How does tipping or gratuities apply on the ship?
By default, auto-gratuity will be applied and you'll see the daily charges against your room account. If you'd like, you can talk to guest service onboard and turn-off the auto-gratuity and then you can get envelopes in which you can tip the stateroom attendant, food service, and others as you choose.
Do I need cash? What's accepted around the ship and in the ports?
When you're checking-in in Miami, you'll receive a SeaPass card. While on the ship (and CocoCay), you can use the SeaPass card for everything. While in the ports, the US dollar is typically accepted and so are other widely-accepted credit/debit cards.
Smoking sections?
Yes. There are multiple smoking sections on the ship. However, smoking is not allowed in any of the rooms (or on the balcony).
I booked, but now something came up, and we can't make it. Can I get a refund?
We're sorry to hear you can't make it! If you cancel 90 days or more prior to the first day of the cruise, you will get a full refund except for non-refundable deposit amounts. Please visit this link for more information.
