You are the best thing I’ve found on the internet

Modern dating can be difficult, especially for two young adults prioritizing the beginning of our respective careers. As we began establishing ourselves in the workforce, we both realized we would rather sit on the couch watching sports and movies instead of mingling at a bar.

We both knew the theatrical “meet cute” was off the table. Ordering the same coffee at the local coffee shop…realizing we both love dogs, hiking, movies, Italian food, and our astrological signs aligning was NOT how we would meet our future spouses. If anything, we are realists, and we knew online dating was our best bet at finding forever. So we both moved to a little dating app for young professionals called Hinge.

Tyler made the first move by liking Hannah’s photo. After scrolling through Tyler’s profile Hannah was unsure if she wanted to start up a conversation, but there was one anecdote that stood out: “I survived 5 weeks in Australia with no phone, no credit card, and a scratched cornea”. Hannah was intrigued and had to know more. And therein lies our origin story..

We have shared some amazing experiences together since our first conversation.

Here are some of our favorite memories:

Our hiking trip to the southwest: descending into the Grand Canyon for sunrise, checking out the Hoodoos at Bryce Canyon National Park, and hiking up Angels landing at Zion National Park.

Numerous Staples family excursions to Disney World.

Our first date: getting Ice cream in a blizzard in February.

Snow skiing adventures at Snowshoe, Holiday Valley, Seven Springs, and Peek’n Peak each winter.

A few concerts, many weddings, and plenty of lake days.

We’ve welcomed nieces and nephews into the world on both sides of the family.

And Bringing home our sweet boy Jack.

With all of those, and many more not listed. No relationship is all sunshine and rainbows.. so here our some of our worst:

Tyler throwing up out the window of Hannah’s car on the way home from country fest

Hannah accidentally forgetting to cancel her wine membership for 2 years and having 14 cases of wine sent to the house

Both of us sharing a 30 year old Sam’s club recliner to watch TV because Tyler was broke and his furniture got delayed due to a pandemic.

Driving through a snowy icy nightmare to make it for Christmas in South Bend.

And let’s not forget Jack throwing up on Hannah in bed while she slept.

Through the good and the bad… these are some of the highs and lows that we feel have brought us together as a couple and as a family.
