As of July 31, GoogleMaps indicates that there is a residence hall on the site of the newly-available Hilltop Parking Structure we have been instructed to utilize, and the now-demolished Bernhard Center is still listed as a potential destination. If you put in simply “Western Michigan University,” you will be asked to choose a more specific destination from among some options. The most useful is probably Waldo Library, which due south of the new Student Center (where the Reception will be held) and southeast of Kanley Chapel (the Ceremony location).
As of July 31, Apple’s Maps app seems to be unaware of the new road (Arcadia Loop) leading to Hilltop Parking Structure. If you put in simply “Western Michigan University,” you will automatically navigate to the aforementioned (demolished) Bernhard Center.
Be sure to refer to this posted map when you arrive on campus to avoid ending up at a demolition site (the red hashed-out area on this map).
We have been assured—in writing—that parking in the Hilltop Parking Structure on our wedding day is FREE! Do not pay for parking!!
It is very hilly on Western’s campus. If stairs are hard for you, please check back here prior to the wedding day for an update on the recommended accessible and/or wheel-friendly routes. It is navigable, but the routes are not always intuitive (much of Hannah’s first semester at WMU was on a knee scooter…she gets it!)
The best place to park if you or someone in your party has a handicap parking pass is the location indicated on the map, just southeast of the new Student Center. Be sure your pass is properly displayed.
Don't feel glued to your seat -- feel free to get up, mingle, and move seats around as the Reception carries on!
