This corner of the universe is near and dear to us! Mystic is where we had our first date and many dates after that; We both grew up just a few towns from Mystic, and still spend many weekends with friends and family. We're so excited to share our favorite places with our favorite people!
Where we had our first date! Red 36 offers a great selection of indoor and outdoor seating located directly on the Mystic River. We recommend the raw bar, burgers, and a round of Fishers Island lemonades!
A nautical-themed cocktail lounge, restaurant, and “Dive Bar”
in collaboration with The Real McCoy Rum. In the upper saloon,
enjoy a cocktail driven dinner experience with creative small plates. Downstairs, you’ll find a laid back pub serving beer and bar bites, complete with shuffleboard table, and arcade games.
Without a doubt, our favorite of them all. Chef Renee Touponce was nominated in 2023 for James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Nominee, Best Chef Northeast. While we love everything on the menu, we recommend ordering the tagliatelle, sourdough with miso butter, and (of course) oysters! Their dessert is always changing but never disappoints so be sure to leave room for something sweet after dinner.
Shipwright’s Daughter is our favorite spot for brunch in downtown Mystic. Recent winner of the Connecticut Restaurant Association’s ‘Restaurant of the Year’, Shipwright’s is a must-try! Hannah recommends the Bee’s Knees latte and the SWD Egg Sandwich.
If you’re craving a burger, look no further than Engine Room. You can’t go wrong with their Chopped Salad and Grassfed Burger They also offer craft beers and a large bourbon selection.
Fun Fact: Clyde’s is the oldest steam powered cider mill in the United States. If you go, be sure to grab back a bag of cider donut because one donut is never enough (trust us).
If you’re looking for unique shops, look no further than this quaint village but make sure to stop for coffee and a donut at Deviant Donuts. As a lover of gadgets, Josh recommends checking out Kitch for all your kitchen needs.
We both grew up exploring the Mystic Seaport and Aquarium as children. Rain or shine, it’s still a fun place to visit.
Enjoy a glass of vino from a restored WWII-era airplane hangar at Saltwater Farm Vineyard. You can out their schedule while you’re in town for live performances and food trucks!
Did you hear about the lobster that danced at the wedding?
He ended up pulling a mussel!
Josh likes them cold, Hannah prefers them hot. No matter how you enjoy it - Josh’s way or the right way - you’re in for a treat if you stop at Abbott’s for a lobster roll. Their Hot Lobster Roll has repeatedly earned Connecticut Magazines ‘The Best of Connecticut’ award!
