In late Summer 2023, on an exceptionally beautiful summer bike ride with a group of church friends, Tyrone's bike chain broke, and it seemed no one in the group realized.

After a few minutes of contemplating how to alert the group, a young lady with a warm and welcoming smile turned around and came back to see what had happened to Tyrone.

When he saw her, his wheels were spinning, and that was in fact, the real missing link.

Over the next few months, conversation, flirty ping-pong at a Red Rock retreat, pool with friends at a local hall, and a movie-theatre group date ensued. Finally, on December 18, 2023, the first date was planned, Mini-golf and sushi.

Upon arriving at the golf dome for their first date, they didn't notice Hannah's brother Joe had also just arrived to hit some balls at the driving range. Joe quickly noticed and realized his sister was just a couple steps over, playing mini-golf… with a boy. At this point, Tyrone and Joe had never met. After a quick phone call to Hannah’s sister Abi to game-plan what he should do …say a casual hello to this new guy his sister seemed very interested in or duck out quietly! He panicked, snuck out the side door, and ran to his car. Hannah and Tyrone never even knew they had an unintentional chaperoned first date, haha!

Over the course of the next 12 months, immense learning, growing, loving, and adventuring fuelled their love and understanding of each other and what God had in store for them together.

Both being outdoors lovers, many memories were shared, including Pinawa hikes and pizza picnics, swimming in the rain, skating at The Forks, trampoline trick competitions, pool parties, family campfires, reading on the dock, sunset fishing, ice cream walks through the city, watching the northern lights, roller skating, running and snowmobiling. Two fun road trips included a traditional Grand Forks hotel weekend and a stormy Giants Ridge snowboard trip. Special moments that were created and continue to be shared include Sunday morning church, coffee in the screen porch, late night hot tub chats, competitive Crib and Rook matches… and of course, always time for a Tyrone 17-minute power nap :)

With Hannah’s love for everything plants and nature, Tyrone felt it would be special to propose on a snowy walk through the Assiniboine park with a celebratory dinner to follow at The Leaf on December 30, 2024.
