Our Story
Our Love Story
We met on Zoom during graduate recruiting in March of 2021. Our lab had a "Virtual Happy Hour" and Hannah was a prospective student. Charlie commented on her "fancy" red wine, little did he know it was just blueberry Moscato. In May of 2021, she started a rotation in our lab, and Charlie would come by her hood to talk to her throughout the day. Finally, after her rotation ended, he asked her out on our first date; the rest is history.

Our first date. Charlie cooked us dinner at his apartment. He grilled steaks and way over cooked them.

Hannah's first time meeting Charlie's parents. We hade fun in downtown Champaign with friends and family!

Our first date out at Big Grove Tavern, but we forgot to take a picture while Hannah was still dressed up. So instead we took one in a mirror at one of her favorite stores, Home Goods!

Our first trip together. We spent a night in downtown Chicago going to dinner and having a drink at the bar in the hotel. It was too cold to do much else, but we loved the trip!

Hannah's second NASCAR race. We went to the inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 race. According to Charlie, she just won't admit how much she loves racing.

Hannah wanted a dog, so we settled for something more economical for grad students and got a hamster instead. His name was Woody.

Spent the afternoon at a winery in Champaign. On the way home, we found a beautiful sunflower field and had to take pictures!

Went to an Illinois football game. Normally Illinois is disappointing but they were playing UVA.

Charlie's first Husker game @ Purdue. Hannah's been converting him to a Husker fan since day 1 of our relationship.

Charlie's first time in Nebraska! We saw Wake Forest play in the College World Series and then had dinner with Zach in Lincoln!

We spent the weekend in South Haven, Michigan. We had plenty of beach time, yummy food, and martinis.

Charlie's first home Husker game! Unfortunately, we chose to come to Lincoln for the Michigan game.

One week after the Michigan game, we saw Nebraska destroy Illinois.
