Well, Dickson is a small town located about an hour from Nashville. If you want more of a relaxing and chill stay Dickson would be more catered to you. If you are looking for more things to do I would stay in Nashville and enjoy the fun it has to offer while you are traveling. The drive is not too bad from Nashville and you can do all the fun touristy things while here!
