Every love story is unique, but thinking back about how our lives crossed paths, I (Kait) tend to think ours might take the cake!
A few years ago, I took a weekend-long class to learn how to pregnancy check cows. I was lucky enough to have made a few friends who decided to take pictures of me while I was shoulder deep in the rear end of a cow! I obviously had to make this my entire personality and made it my Facebook profile picture.
A few months went by, and my stunning profile picture must have come across Hayden's "Suggested Friends" section on Facebook. Despite him thinking "This has got to be the coolest girl ever," he didn't add me on Facebook, but he did manage to add me on Snapchat. I happened to know quite a few Haydens from back home, and thought surely it had to be one of them. Boy was I wrong...
Short conversations between acquaintances about farming and cattle, when one of us posted a story, soon became long conversations held between close friends. Our friendship ebbed and flowed, mostly dependent on whether we had significant others in our lives. But no matter if we talked once a week or every single day, we remained best friends.
One day, after a rough breakup on my end, Hayden reached out to make plans to take my mind off things, and I decided to take the leap and make the trek out to Cypress Inn, TN.
I've told Hayden this many times before, but I definitely thought I was going to be kidnapped that day. We had been friends for a few years at this point, but our paths had never crossed in person before. Obviously, neither of us listened to the warnings about meeting strangers!
Despite all of that, and I speak for both of us here, I think we both knew at that moment we had something special. I went home and prayed over and over, hoping God would show me that Hayden was the person I was supposed to be with for the rest of my life.
It took us about a year of the "talking" stage for me to get to a point of trusting God and trusting Hayden. (I think Hayden was ready way before that!) But eventually I leaped, and I am so glad I did! Since then, we have started our own registered cattle herd, grown the commercial herd Hayden had before we met, and spent countless hours in the tractor, and we wouldn't change it for the world.
Hayden truly is my rock and comfort zone, and we complement each other so well. I couldn't ask for a better partner to spend the rest of my life with.
Cheers to God, cattle, and finding the love of your life!
