Jon and Brenden (Haylee’s brother) went to Powerline school together at Mitchell Tech. Jon and Brenden ended up becoming good friends between going to classes together and working at the same auto shop that year. One night, Jon was at Brenden’s house when Haylee showed up. Amongst the chaos of everyone there, Jon and Haylee ended up chatting with each other all night. They exchanged social media information. Jon decided to start a conversation with Haylee the next day. They began to talk every day, then they started to get together with a couple friends here and there. Then came Powerline Graduation. Jon explained to Haylee that he would be moving to Texas for his new job. Haylee was upset, but understood. After Jon moved, they continued to talk to each other every day. They spent countless hours on phone calls and FaceTime. After 8 long months, Jon came back to visit home. During this time, he asked Haylee to go to the movies with him. They went and picked up right where they left off. Jon then moved to Oklahoma for his job. They continued their ritual of nightly phone calls until Jon eventually moved back to Minnesota. After Jon moved back, they were able to go on more dates. Haylee was just WAITING for Jon to make it official. Then FINALLY, on July 3, 2019 (almost 1.5 years after they met), Jon asked Haylee to be his girlfriend. Jon lives in Fulda, Minnesota, while Haylee lives in Salem, South Dakota. Throughout the next couple of years, they would see each other every weekend while Haylee completed nursing school at USD in Vermillion, SD. Haylee graduated in December, 2021 and was able to move to Sioux Falls in January, 2022. After badgering him for MONTHS about getting married, Jon decided it was finally time. He asked Haylee to marry him on June 16, 2023. They could not be more thrilled to spend the rest of their lives together, and to have everyone together to celebrate their love.
