Tomas and Haylee’s story began through one of their best friends, Sam. Although Haylee had heard plenty about Sam’s childhood best friend Tomas throughout their college years at Belmont University in Nashville, they had never actually crossed paths. Despite being so close with Sam for over four years, Haylee had never met or even spoken to Tomas once. Sam and Tomas grew up together in California and had been best friends since they were just four years old. Fast forward to 2020, when Sam and his now-wife, Hailee decided to return to Nashville for a visit after moving back to California. With flights at an all-time low and COVID starting to ease, they invited Tomas along, who had just graduated from the Fire Academy and found himself with plenty of free time. Coincidentally, Haylee had just been furloughed from her job in the music touring industry, giving her nothing but time as well. The timing couldn’t have been better. Their first night in town, a big party hosted by friends, turned into the catalyst for what would become a beautiful love story. Tomas was quiet, and Haylee didn’t think much would come of it. But she was determined to figure out who this mysterious best friend was that Sam had talked about for years. Sam, of course, kept nudging Haylee and saying, “So, did you know Tomas is a firefighter?” about every hour or so. By the end of the night, Haylee somehow managed to convince Tomas—who is notoriously not a dancer—to dance with her. And that’s when things truly started to click. The rest of the week was spent together, and as the time came for Sam, Hailee, and Tomas to return to California, neither Haylee nor Tomas were sure where things would go. But fate intervened. Haylee was headed to Palm Springs for a friend's birthday trip, and there, they reconnected with all their mutual friends. It was during that trip that they both realized this was something special—this was it. What followed was two long years of a long-distance relationship, with Haylee in Nashville and Tomas in California. They visited each other every month, dreaming up plans for their future and figuring out how they could finally close the distance. Fortunately, Haylee landed a remote job, and Tomas was hired by the Dallas Fire Department—just a short drive from Haylee’s family in Fort Worth. Now, after over four years together, they’ve adopted their sweet dachshund, Franklin (who will be in attendance at the wedding), bought their first home, and are ready to tie the knot. Their wedding day will be a joyous celebration with around 130 guests, split between Texas and California. The couple chose Franciscan Gardens not only for its stunning outdoor space, but also for its proximity to the historic San Juan Capistrano Mission, where they’re excited to capture timeless photos. They knew they wanted a venue with history, warmth, and charm—a perfect reflection of their love and their journey together. Haylee and Tomas can’t wait to celebrate with their closest friends and family, marking the beginning of the rest of their lives together!
