How We Met
Imagine it; both fresh out of high school, working their first restaurant jobs at separate ends of a strip mall in front of Providence Village, Texas. Haylee worked at the Subway next to the dry cleaners, and Josh worked as a dish boy for the now-closed Raphael's Mexican bar. One day Josh and his coworker went over for sandwiches before the dinner rush came in, and while standing in the middle of the line, gaped like a fish out of water, staring while Haylee made orders behind the counter. Funnily enough, Haylee began to get upset with Josh for ordering slowly during her late-lunch rush. However, once the hustle was done and the lines had cleared, he returned with a torn-off piece of his receipt with his name and phone number on a blank space on the paper. Josh gave the receipt to the other employee working with Haylee since she was busy doing dishes, but she had heard enough to walk out from the back and watch Josh return to his restaurant. Finally, Haylee went home and called him, and that was that. <3
The Proposal
When Josh proposed two years in, Haylee made it very clear not to surprise her in the middle of a crowded area due to her social anxiety, and he delivered. During their annual holiday trip to Lawry's Steakhouse, they ate, laughed, and had a great night at the restaurant before leaving; Josh asked quietly while sliding Haylee the ring box. She, of course, said yes, and they ate dessert, now engaged. However, Josh didn't ask permission before asking the first time, and Robert wasn't pleased with that. For the next year and a half, Robert would continuously deny Josh the opportunity to propose again with his blessing. Finally, when he said yes and accepted that Josh wanted to marry his daughter, Josh was allowed to offer again, and this time it wasn't in a restaurant but at the lake where Haylee grew up, watching the sunset with the fire pit going. (Probably being eaten by mosquitoes) Again she said yes, and seriously got started on wedding planning.
