It all began in Bexley, Ohio, where Daniel and Haylee first met as students at Capital University. Back in 2014 when they first met, they had no idea that their college years would lead them to a lifetime together. Throughout their time on campus, their paths kept crossing. Their first real conversation happened at a party in Daniel’s college apartment, when Haylee pointed out the Blue Jackets memorabilia hanging on the wall. From that moment, Daniel was determined to get to know her better. After a few persistent messages, Haylee finally agreed to hang out—and on March 11, 2016, Daniel took her to a Blue Jackets vs. Penguins game in Columbus. Little did they know how fitting that first date would be, given the future sports rivalries to come. A few months later, just before heading off on a trip to Northern Michigan, Daniel stopped by Haylee’s college house. On June 3, 2016, he asked her to be his girlfriend, marking the official start of their journey together. Since then, Daniel and Haylee have shared countless memories, especially at sporting events. They cheer together for the Buckeyes and The Crew, but things get a bit more competitive when the Colts face the Steelers—or even more intense when the Blue Jackets play the Penguins. Their friendly rivalry has become one of the many things that keeps their relationship fun. Beyond sports, they’ve been fortunate to travel the world side by side. And on May 17, 2024, in London, England, at the top of The Shard, Daniel asked the most important question of all. Haylee said yes, beginning the next beautiful chapter of their story. Now, they’re thrilled to celebrate their love with the people who have supported them along the way.
