The story of how I fell head over heels in love with Hayley is short and effortless. However, the tale of how I managed to win her heart is nothing short of a miracle.
In impeccable timing, I met Hayley during the last week of her residency in Destin, Florida. Somehow, I convinced her that a local seafood joint called Boshamps served the best grouper in town and asked if I could take her to dinner there. She said yes.
Determined to impress her, I brushed my teeth three times that day and showed up two hours early to secure a table at the popular restaurant during tourist season. We conversed, we laughed, we shared our goals, and I was utterly amazed by her beauty, intellect, and ambition.
Our date went exceptionally well, so well in fact, that the very next day, I got a tattoo of a third molar in tribute to her recent success in the Air Force's Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, where she graduated top of her class.
Hayley and I spent every day of that week together before she left for her new duty station in Oklahoma. Each day felt like a fairytale, and I quickly developed a profound connection with her, falling deeply in love. After helping pack up the last of her belongings the night before she left, my hunch that she was merely tolerating me for the free labor was proven false. She agreed to be my girlfriend and start our journey together!
Our journey so far has been nothing short of remarkable. From enduring long-distance, including her horse race in Africa and my stint in North Carolina for the Golden Knight Assessment and Selection, to our trips together to Broken Bow, Hawaii, Samoa, Tucson, Argentina and the Great Smoky Mountains. I finally fulfilled my burning desire to ask her to spend the rest of her life with me and promise my heart and soul to her for as long as I breathe. Hayley, I love you and I cannot wait to marry you on March 22nd!
When people ask me "What do you love about Jonah?" I don't even know where to begin...The story of our love is unconventional- and I wouldn't have it any other way.
He couldn't have met me at a worse time. I was a week away from moving across the country to my next assignment in Oklahoma, and had my sights set on everything but a relationship at the time. He convinced me to go out on a date along the coast in Destin, and it was then I knew he was the one.
A few days later I moved to Oklahoma and began my career as the new doc at Tinker AFB, while Jonah was away at Golden Knight Assessment and Selection. Communication was at a minimum due to training for 8 weeks, but he was one of the few to get selected and graduate, and we made it out the other side stronger than ever.
Every day I continue to fall further in love with his quick wit, kindness, generosity and character. I truly believed men like him did not exist, and it has been the most healing feeling as he melted all the ice in my veins.
Jonah continues to amaze me with how successful he is at everything he sets his mind to. Not many individuals can say they have been an Army Ranger, Green Beret and Golden Knight, as well as a successful business man. But then again not everyone is Jonah. We have already had so many laughs and memories around the world and I cannot wait to have a lifetime more with this perfect man by my side. I cannot wait to do life with you Jonah, I love you!
