Our favorite area of Puerto Vallarta for restaurants and shopping is the Old Town area (a/k/a the Centro Histórico and Zona Romántica). If you stay at one of our suggested accommodations, it is only a 10-minute taxi ride to Old Town PV! It is a must to take at least one trip downtown to wander the streets, do some bargaining, and have some delicious food in order to experience PV the way that we do!
This is the best spot in PV if you are craving fresh fish & chips and fun cocktails! It's owned by a San Francisco ex-pat, and it has a lovely rooftop space. We always make at least 1 trip here when we are in PV!
Offering yet another incredible rooftop, Barcelona Tapas probably has the best view of the entire PV bay area as far as restaurants go. As can be assumed from the name, Barcelona Tapas serves delicious Spanish tapas and sangria. It's one of our favorite spots to visit for our last night in PV!
This is one of our go-to's for casual Mexican classics!
The best brunch spot in PV! This is our favorite spot to have breakfast before shopping in town!
Walk the Malecon (boardwalk) for shopping and stunning views of the bay! At night, you will find tons of street performers and delicious food stands to explore!
This is a fun lookout offering panoramic views of the Banderas Bay!
This is a riverwalk along the Isla Rio Cuale located in Old Town Puerto Vallarta where you can find lots of stands selling souvenirs.
Los Arcos are rocky islands in the Banderas Bay that are great to snorkel at! Many tours offer excursions to snorkel the granite arches. Information for tours should be provided at your hotel.
Las Marietas is another snorkeling destination in PV, which can only be reached by boat. Many tours offer day trips to Las Marietas and its "secret" beach.
