Q + A

What will be included as part of the RSVP process?

If you have already indicated to us that you are unable to attend, your RSVP will only include the details for the livestream (if there are any changes in this and you can attend now let us know - you are all still welcome obviously!) If we have reserved a space for you on the coach (Allegria > Church > Allegria) you will be requested to RSVP for each trip. If the coach is not part of your RSVP we apologise that we cannot accommodate, please reach out with any concerns. The livestream will be included as part of all RSVPs, as a reminder for those who cannot attend. If you can attend the wedding in person, please decline the livestream.

When is the RSVP deadline?

Look out for your invitation early to mid-September. RSVP deadline is September 30th, 2024. RSVP's will be captured on this website.

Will either of you be changing your name?

Whilst socially we will refer to ourselves as The Corrigans, legally Hayley will remain a Thompson for a couple more years (avoiding additional complexities with immigration and her current visa).

I am coming from outside the US, do I need a visa?

The UK is an eligible country under the Visa Waiver Program, and so you can apply for travel authorization online with the ESTA process. We recommend reviewing the ESTA website to learn more about the application and if you meet the eligibility criteria. This should be an easy process for the majority of international guests. https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/

Which airport should I fly into?

The closest airport to the venue is JFK - John F. Kennedy International Airport. It is a 30 minute drive from the Allegria Hotel. For those coming from smaller towns in the UK, we recommend looking into Aer Lingus flights via Dublin. Available at smaller airports such as Birmingham, Bristol, and Exeter. US Customs is processed at Dublin, saving time when you reach JFK.

What is the dress code?

This isn't a Royal Wedding but feel free to dress up, hats and fascinators encouraged. We do not expect black tie (even the groom isn't wearing a tux!) We respectfully ask you do not wear any white (white suit shirts are fine).

Are children invited?

The wedding will be mostly child-free. Please check invitations, once received, for named guests. For those travelling long distances (i.e. from the UK) we do not expect you to leave your children at home or find a baby-sitter in a different country. We will work together to make arrangements that suit you, as we want everyone to be able to attend.

Can I bring a plus one?

Invitations will contain the names of guests. Please check your invitation, once received.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are all indoors. Weather permitting the cocktail hour at the rooftop bar will have outside space. November weather can be unpredictable, so prepare to be cold or warm when travelling between venues.

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

We ask you arrive at 2:15pm for a prompt 2:30pm start. Please do not arrive any earlier than 2:00pm as there may be a wedding scheduled ahead of ours.

How is the parking?

There is ample parking at the church. There is also plenty of public parking immediately outside of the hotel, which should be largely vacant in the off season. However, there will be a valet for anyone staying at the hotel, who will park your car in a nearby lot (if you prefer).

How good is public transport?

Detailed transport options are listed in the Travel tab. High level: We will provide transport Hotel > Church > Hotel on the day of the wedding for guests with no access to a personal vehicle (i.e., overseas guests). If we have saved you a space on the coach you be informed as part of your RSVP. Public transport to NYC is close to the Hotel. Uber/Lyft have presence in the local area.

Is there accommodation for overnight guests?

There is not a room block limit, instead there is a guaranteed room rate for Friday and Saturday night. The rooms are first come first serve and can be booked directly with the hotel. If the room type is not suitable you can book alternative rooms with the hotel directly. Details are listed on the Travel tab. If you are coming from the U.K. and need assistance booking a room, please let us know. PSA: you may see warnings such as "Only 1 room left" on the website. We can confirm this is a sales tactic by the Hotel, and there are sufficient number of rooms for guests.

Can I take photos to post to social media?

We ask phones do not get in the way of the professional photographers hired during the ceremony. We welcome photos before and after the ceremony, but not during. Feel free to post photos to social media using the hashtag #KEEPCALMANDCORRIGAN so we can easily find the memories taken on the day.

Do I need to bring cash to the reception?

We are following the American tradition of having an open bar so you do not need to have cash on hand.

Will you have a registry?

Whilst we appreciate your presence more than your presents, we will create a registry for those who wish to get us a gift [registry will be available on this website once formal invitations are sent]. We do not expect gifts - especially from those with high travel costs.

Are there additional events before/after the wedding?

We will not be hosting a bridal shower or rehearsal dinner. For those spending the night before the wedding at the Allegria Hotel, there is a Hotel bar we will visit informally before our beauty sleep. For those staying local on Saturday night we are hosting a buffet breakfast on Sunday at the Allegria Hotel.

I'm from the UK. How does the tipping work?

Tips are included in our event package, so do not worry about it on the day. If you are planning to make a vacation of your stay and you eat out, 15% for good service or 20% for great service. At a bar it’s usually a dollar per beer.

I've received my Save the Date, but I know that I will be moving in the near future. Should just RSVP via the website?

Please keep us up to date on your address so we can make sure you receive both your invitation and your thank you card.

Are there any notable events in the US during the wedding week?

The 2024 presidential election will be held on Tuesday 5th November.

Additional Q&A will be added as necessary.
