Our Wedding

Our Story...Written by Peyton Stadler On a sunny afternoon on June 2, 2023, I accepted an invitation I would normally turn down—a pool party at the house of someone I had never met. I almost said no, but something felt different, so I left work early and decided to go. That small, unexpected decision turned out to be life-changing. I showed up, had a great time, and met this bubbly girl who would soon become my everything. A few weeks later, Hayley and I volunteered together at Veritas Kids Camp, which really kick-started our relationship. On the first day, we unexpectedly spent several hours together after our friends left, just talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. By the end of the week, we both knew something special was growing between us. We bonded over our shared love for Jesus—and our fascination with Disney movies. Since I was hesitant to start a relationship before college, I nervously asked her to watch a movie with me instead of going on a “real” date. It went so well that we did it again…and again. By July 21, Peyley was official. After a month of summer fun, the hardest part arrived: long distance. I began my freshman year at Iowa State while Hayley started her senior year at Solon. Despite the miles and plenty of FaceTime struggles, we continued to grow closer. The distance wasn’t easy, but it taught us how to be honest, intentional, and willing to communicate—even when it was hard. Before we knew it, the season of long distance was over, and we both would be attending Iowa State in the fall. The following spring, after many thoughtful conversations and much prayer, we mutually decided we wanted to take the next step and pursue marriage together. Though Hayley didn’t know it yet, I quickly began planning a proposal. I spent weeks searching for the perfect ring and imagining how the moment would unfold. Then the time finally came, and on April 25th, we went on a “fancy date night,” where we took a quiet walk through Reiman Gardens, surrounded by blooming tulips. When we reached an enchanting floral archway, I asked if we could stop for just a moment. I read her a letter I had written, dropped down on one knee, and asked her to marry me. She said YES—and just like that, we were engaged! Now you’ve had the opportunity to read our story, but none of it would have been possible without Jesus’ story. It is only through His perfect life, His sacrifice on the cross for our sins, and His victory over death that we, too, have been brought from death to life and have been allowed to spend the rest of our lives together. May God use our marriage to shape us more into His image, forever giving Him all the glory, honor, and praise!
