Lennon and Heather's first interaction was via a post on the UCM Class of 2022 Facebook page where they found out they had the same major, interests, and faith in Jesus. During the second semester of their senior year of high school, they started messaging casually on Facebook which quickly turned into talking non-stop via Snapchat and text. Lennon and Heather both agree that there was something different about the way they interacted with each other and had both secretly developed an interest in the other.
On July 14, 2018, Lennon and Heather met in person for the first time at the Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City. Let's just say having two math people meet at an art gallery may not have been the brightest idea on our part.
A little less than a month later, Lennon and Heather started their freshman year at UCM. Entering into college with the same major, they were in many of the same Freshman Kickoff activities and classes. It wasn't long before the two began spending time together regularly. At the end of the first week of classes, Lennon and Heather decided to meet and have a couple of conversations about their relationship. Long story short, after sorting through some initial miscommunication it was clear that the two wanted to pursue each other, with Lennon telling Heather that the next girl he dated was going to be the girl he married, and he wanted to date her. Three weeks into their freshman year, Lennon and Heather made it official on August 29, 2018. It is safe to say that they both knew marriage was the destination of their dating journey from the start.
Dating has been nothing short of wonderful, and Lennon and Heather are so blessed to have been together through all of the struggles and joys that college life has brought.
Skipping to the engagement, Lennon proposed on February 26, 2021 in front of the Elliott Student Union on UCM's campus in the same place that he first realized Heather was the one when he was walking her back to her dorm only a week or so into dating. It was the most perfect night to reflect on the work the Lord had done in their relationship for the past two and a half years while looking forward to what He will do throughout their lifetime.
Lennon and Heather are overjoyed to be getting married on December 18, 2021, surrounded by their closest friends and family.
