Our Wedding

Zach and Heather first met in August 2005 at Columbia High School in Illinois. Heather immediately developed a crush on Zach, but the feelings weren't reciprocated. They remained friends throughout high school, participating in multiple extracurricular activities together. They went their separate ways in 2009 after they graduated from CHS, but reunited four years later. They went on their first date on April 29, 2013, and the rest is history!

How We Met

Every year on their anniversary, Zach and Heather would hike up Salt Lick Point Trail to the exact spot they sat and talked on their first date. Their third anniversary was to be spent at their new home, in Denver, Colorado, but were visiting St. Louis on April 17, 2016 when they decided to go for a morning hike. As they got to their usual spot, a snake slithered across the path. They wanted to get a better look at it (because snakes are awesome), but it quickly vanished. As they went to sit down on the side of the bluff, a giant red wasp (NOT awesome) came out of nowhere and started chasing Heather! She ran FOR HER LIFE up and down the path until it stopped following her. Zach was close behind and improvised, as his plan had been ruined by the stinging insect. After having a good laugh about the situation, Zach got down on one knee, and of course Heather said yes!

Meadow Creek Bed and Breakfast is a quaint B&amp;B nestled in the mountains of Colorado, about 40 miles from the heart of Denver. It sits on 34 acres and features beautiful foliage. If you'd like to know more about the venue, please check out their website: http://meadowcreekbb.com/

What should we do for lodging?

There will be room for immediate family, grandparents, and the wedding party at Meadow Creek. If you do not fit any of these categories, you can find information on nearby lodging at https://www.theknot.com/us/heather-collins-and-zachary-bennett-oct-2017/details#accommodations. This page features a list of "Sister Inns" to Meadow Creek. There are also plenty of options for lodging on airbnb, as well as hotels in the Golden and Lakewood areas that are about 30 minutes from Pine.

What about transportation?

Unfortunately, we were unable to provide transportation for all of our guests. This means you will need to bring your own car, rent a car from the airport, or arrange to carpool with other guests. Please plan accordingly!

What should I wear?

The weather during October in Colorado is unpredictable and incredibly varied, so checking the weather beforehand is a must. Please be mindful that the weather could be 90 degrees and sunny or 35 degrees and snowing. Our ceremony will be held outdoors, so plan your footwear accordingly.

When should I arrive for the ceremony?

Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the ceremony to park your car, grab a seat, and get settled before the fun begins!

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes! Please inform staff when you arrive that you will require extra assistance getting to the ceremony site. There are also wheelchair accessible facilities in the building where the reception will be held.

What kind of ceremony will you be having?

We will be having a secular handfasting ceremony. Handfasting is a Celtic tradition of binding the hands of a betrothed couple together to symbolize a union, and is where the phrase "tying the knot" comes from.

Can I take pictures?

We ask that you please refrain from using electronic devices during both the ceremony and the reception while we, the bride and groom, are present. We would like everyone to be present in the moment and not hung up on social media or taking photos (we have photographers for that). We will have a table specially for you to place their electronic devices so you won't be tempted to use it. Please feel free to take photos before the ceremony starts or during cocktail hour, but please place them back on the table once the ceremony and reception start. Thank you!

When is the RSVP deadline?

We absolutely MUST receive RSVPs for all attendants by Saturday, August 12, 2017. If you do not RSVP, we will not be able to serve you dinner at the reception, and you may not even have a place to sit. Please make everyone's lives easier and RSVP as soon as you know you'll be joining us!

I have a dietary restriction/allergy.  What do I do?

Please let us know personally if you have an allergy or dietary restriction and we will do our very best to make sure you have something delicious to eat! Please note that a vegetarian option will be available.

Is there a gift registry?

Yes, but we're going nontraditional! We ask that you do not buy us any physical gifts. PLEASE. Our small apartment is already busting at the seams and we honestly don't need any more stuff. Our registries are through Honeyfund, a honeymoon registry, and Vebo, an Colorado experience-based registry. We would love if you would contribute to one of these options if you so desire.
