Timing is everything.

We know this firsthand, since it took us almost ten years to meet, despite our paths crossing innumerable times. We didn't meet while living in the same dorm at the University of Michigan, or at one the many Harmonettes concerts and after parties Rob attended, or even at a mutual friend's wedding back in Ann Arbor. No, we didn't meet in one of the many moments we quite literally could have bumped into one another.

It took the Internet, folks.

On a hot July day in DC, after Rob had to take a work call, and Heather stopped in to 7-11 in hopes of not showing up to the date sweating, we checked out each others' Coffee Meets Bagel profiles one last time and met for dinner in Shaw. Heather was smitten with Rob's hair (WHO ISN'T), and Rob was immediately taken by Heather's radiant smile. One six-hour date turned into another, and another, and we haven't stopped talking since.

Heather was convinced she wouldn't cry when Rob proposed, but when he got down on one knee at the top of the Michigan Union, she turned into a (rare) speechless (happy) mess. And then proceeded to tell everyone she saw on the way to Michigan Stadium.

We may have officially met in DC, but our love story started well before that. All of the times we walked right past one another without knowing it -- on the Diag, in the dorms, at a cappella concerts, and maybe even in DC -- make up the beginning of the story we'll be able to tell for decades to come.
